Winding noise with 5 disc player/reciever

My Samsung surround sound reciever can change five discs, and when I start it up, it makes a winding noise that goes away once I open and close the door. With in minute or so, the noise stops regardless of what I do. Is this normal?

    Dual Layer DVD's

Mine records up to 8 hours. I tested it at this level and the 6 hour one. The 6hour one seems to work good enough. the SEP(?) 8-hour option might work for some things.

    Dual Layer DVD's

I see. It takes a special dvd burner. Although my dvd recorder is new, the model has been out for a while. Is 480p typical DVD quality? I might only get an hour of that on a DVD?

    Dual Layer DVD's

I saw a Dual Layer (DL-DVD) today at Wally World. (Walmart). It had nearly 10 gigs. I was wondering if this kind of DVD would be good for recording HD on DVD's. I've heard from others hear that many DVD recorders can't do HD very well. My CyberHome DVR-1200 has componant imputs for HD...

    DVR/PVR without subscriptions hassel

    DVR/PVR without subscriptions hassel

I'm just looking to watch shows I miss during the day. Can I fit more if I watch a medium quality video? Do older shows like DS9 use less memory? I may just need to get a better VCR. My VCR does not record SLP 6hr mode like it should. The tape is crappy when I try to watch it and it won't...

    Wireless TV Transmitter

I don't know much, but I would imagine you can just drill a whole through the ceiling of the basement. Is it right below the living room? That cable comes from somewhere outside, maybe the cable man can make anohter connection. Does she watch cable, or only local TV?

    DVR/PVR without subscriptions hassel

More so than a VCR? I re-use my vcr tapes until they are worn out. I would probably buy rewritable DVD's. Also, I could collect DVD's of my favorite shows like DS9 or CSI.

    DVR/PVR without subscriptions hassel

The problems with the lifetime subscriptions is that it is only for the lifetime of the TiVo, not your actual lifetime. If TiVo ever folds, all you will have is this brick that does nothing (assuming Tivo series 2).

    DVR/PVR without subscriptions hassel

Is there a PVR/DVR without the subscription hassel that I can use just like a vcr? I just want a devise that can record lots of hours of TV. Should I opt for a DVD burner instead? I have a vcr, but it can only record in LP and SLP, so its either 2 hours or 6 hours, and the 6 hours records...
