First ATSC 3.0 OTA Experience today

This is my prediction on ATSC 3.0. X.1 feed is 1080p with 4x 720p sub-channels. Or X.1 feed (which has to be free) @ 720p with the X.2 feed @ 4K, but only accessable through some sort of up charge. This all about the money.

ATSC 3.0 $ 75.00 dongo SDR stick to hit the market this year...

4k broadcasts will be very rare. I can see these stations doing the same thing as now. Multiple bandwidth stealing sub-channels, except they'll be in HD.

Interesting story from Scripps broadcasting company

With the exception of Fox, although they do own Tubi, all of the ota networks own major streaming services. Even PBS has one.

Interesting story from Scripps broadcasting company

It's too bad that the networks are putting their 2nd tier shows on the OTA channels.

Nexstar looking to purchase the CW Network

People are dropping cable subscriptions, streaming services are raising prices and people are buying antennas at record levels. Hmm, what should we do? I know let's get the cheapest crap possible to put on our OTA network! I mean it worked so well with MY Network and ION.

Shielding the back side of a yagi antenna

You know it would a lot easier to just stream it. BUZZR is available for free on plenty of streaming services. If you don't have a streaming box, you can get a one fairly cheap for under $30.

Addams Family coming to METV on May 3rd

You should get an ota dvr. You can buy an Airtv 2 and a 1tb hdd from Amazon for under $150 before sales taxes.

Meredith announced they put TV Stations for sale

With ATSC 3.0 on the horizon, they want to sell their ota properties and concentrate on publishing magazines? Sounds like a half-assed decision to me.

    Auction Opening Bid Prices Announced

I'm sure the fact that the wireless industry has more positions for former FCC employees than tv stations might have something to do with it too.

Why are the Diginets mostly classic TV?

My kids are 23 (living on his own) and 20 (away at school). They don't watch ota or cable. And most of their friends are the same.

Why are the Diginets mostly classic TV?

If my kids are an indicator, they're certainly not watching those diginets either. They do watch a lot of stuff over their phone's though.

XBOX One to be OTA DVR

I've read of some people using the Xbox One to control a Homeworx dvr. I wonder if you will be able to use the dvr feature and still control another stb? Two tuners would be a bit better. Although you would then have two separate hdd's to store recordings on.

    Amplified Mohu Leaf

I had installed an outside rotary antenna on my old home about ten years ago and reception was great. I live north of Detroit and was able to pick-up stations as far away as Flint and Toledo, before the digital transition that is. I moved last fall to a house that didn't have a roof-top antenna...

CBS to Launch Retro Digital Channel Focused on Pop Culture, History

Well, there goes that great looking 1080i pq here in Detroit. :(

    SiliconDust HDTC-2US pretty much rubbish.

My assumption on devices like this is, if it doesn't say it can do, then it can't. So I really doubt that it will record live tv.

    SiliconDust HDTC-2US pretty much rubbish.

Thanks, although it is too easy to do that. :bounce The HD Homerun will record on MAC's using purchased software. Like I mentioned, you need to do better research. This is what I found after a 2 minute search. http://www.titaniumsatellite.com/amiko_a3 The site says that it will play tv from...

    SiliconDust HDTC-2US pretty much rubbish.

Yes, I've noticed that over the years I've been here. Plus she never seems to be happy. I'd feel sorry for her, except I don't feel sorry for people who complain and won't make a legitimate effort to make things work.

    SiliconDust HDTC-2US pretty much rubbish.

If you thought that this was a stand alone device, then you did a poor job of researching it. You should be angry at yourself and not the device. I've been running one with Windows Media Center for a couple of years now and it works great.

What one subchannel do you wish they would add to your market??

I wish that the national network affiliates would drop the sub-channels entirely. That way we could get a full bitrate HD pq on network shows. Let the independent stations and crap networks like Ion or MYTV carry sub-channels in their full 480i glory. The CBS and TheCW stations in my area are...

    Moving from Hopper to Tivo

Maybe because the TivoHD is old technology? The new Roamio is worlds better than the old TivoHD. If he does end up buying a Roamio, he will be happy he did. I do use a WMC w/HD Homerun for OTA recordings, so I know that there is nothing wrong with that option. But MS hasn't done anything with...

    Promoting one subchannel over another

I too live in the Detroit area and hope that they completely drop 7-3, no matter what is on it, so they can devote more bandwith to the rather soft HD pq on 7-1.

    Mohu Sky

You should check out the reviews at Amazon for this product. There are over 200 of them there. That should give you a really good idea about whether to purchase or not.

Channel Master Announces Replenished Inventory of Popular DVR+ Product

At least it has PSIP available as a back-up. Even though PSIP data is hit and miss (mostly miss). But yes, a used Tivo Premiere w/lifetiime for $300 is a better deal.

Thinking about getting a DVR for my Winegard antenna. Which one should I get?

So many people have said that, that I'm sure it's true. But I haven't had any problems tuning in OTA or cable card channels with my Premiere. My Premiere has far less problems than the Cisco 4642HDC cable box I get from my cable provider.
