    TV Skips season is here!!!

+1, I've had mine since it first came out and record few hours on it just about every day. Super picture and it is nice to be able to record two HD shows and watch another show that was recorded all at the same time. :up

Advice needed on OTA-HD tuner/projector setup

I thought that as long as you left your dish receiver connected to the dish's LNBs the OTA tuner would still work when you have canceled your subscription. Can anyone confirm if this is true or not. If you own the receiver and it is true you will have your problem solved with no extra cost to you.

Questions about OTA tuner and analog TV

In regards to the PAL DVR, the ability to record on two tuners and at the same time watch a pre-recorded show all in HD really puts this OTA receiver in the upper class. Not to mention that there are no fees after the purchase. I have used mine on average of 3 hours a day for the past 16 months...

Shaw Direct HDPVR 530 ASTC Tuner

It dosen't exist & even if it did the receiver does not have the software to support it. The word is that even the new 630 receiver (which has not been released yet) will not have one either.

any ideas on HD tuner box w/ pvr or dvd recording?

That would work, but the with cost of the receiver and the hard drive he might as well get the PAL DVR, which he can't afford. Get a loan and buy the PAL, you will have two HD tuners and a DVR with no bills for many years to come.

    Echostar DTV Pal DV discontinued?

Thats what it sounds like, you need to contact Dish to see if you can re-sell by way of them. The lady on the phone doing the survey confirmed to me that as an end user you cannot buy them through Dish anymore.

    Echostar DTV Pal DV discontinued?

You should be able to get them at sears: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_05757709000P?keyword=dtvpal A few weeks ago I had a 5 minute phone survey about how I liked the PAL and if I would have any interest in ordering movies through it. I doubt it is going to be discontinued any...

    OTA Picture resolution

Yes, that is what the 722 will do. Not all shows are in HD even though thy are on an HD channel. The Amazing Race among other shows are not using HD cameras and therefore you see the show with a 4:3 picture.

    DTV Pal DVR

Well a few people have had problems, but it is hard to quantify the actual percentage of people with issues. I bet it is close the same percentage of problems with new Dish Network receivers. If they would have a decent warranty length, like 12 months it would be much better. I was one of the...

    Best PVR?

Yea, I think the warranty is only 90 days. That is the one thing I really don't like about the unit.

    Best PVR?

I agree with you harshness. It has a very similar feel to the Dish Network receivers. Dual tuners, features like skip 30 seconds ahead or 10 seconds back, TVGOS and ethernet updates. Hard to beat it for $250 + tax and no fees after this.
  15. QCK

    Best PVR?

The Pal DVR has TVGOS as well. It works like a charm. For $250 you really cannot beat it IMO. I'm not sure what bad "general comments" have been posted recently. They did have issues in the past, but the updates have fixed all of the problems that I have had.

    DTVPAL DVR

Yea, try it yourself. I record two shows at the same time about 3 times a week with no issues. I normaly do what Smitty says, set to record in the guide. Then if I want to change a timer to weekly I just go into the timer menu and edit it. This box has been great since they upgraded the firmware...

    BEV 9220/Dish 942 off-air antenna issue

No, I'm not absolutely sure, that is why I suggested you take the receiver to someone else that has a signal from Bell TV to confirm this (read post #4). Right now it is not working for you and like boba said people with the Dish version of this box needed to do this to get their PVR to work...

    BEV 9220/Dish 942 off-air antenna issue

You will need a signal, just connecting the LNB will make no difference to what you have now.

    BEV 9220/Dish 942 off-air antenna issue

I'm pretty sure boba is right. Buy a dish and one lnb off of ebay, or even before that if you have a neighbor/relative/friend near by with a dish already up give it a try at their house.

    Converter question?

I have the DTVPal DVR, it is hard to beat it if you have an HDTV and want to record shows. It has two tuners. Both tuners can be used to record. It also has 35 hours of hard drive space. With an ethernet conection you can update the firmware as well. I highly recommend it. :up

    Understanding Beamwidth

It would be 345 to 15 degrees understanding the definition below: Antenna beamwidth, also known as the half-power beamwidth, is the angle of an antenna pattern or beam over which the relative power is at or above 50% of the peak power.

DTVPal Plus Recording a channel while watching another

You just have to change the remote address to avoid confilcts. You do it the same way as on a Dish receiver/remote.
