Ion Plus and Qubo to shut down

I am confused as heck by the Indianapolis situation. We're still not getting all the Scripps/Katz national networks, but what they have done is added duplicated feeds of QVC & HSN to the two stations they now own here, so there are now 3 feeds of QVC and HSN across Indianapolis. Presumably some...

    Radar channel 33.2

Yeah I feel like either the sub channels are going to look like old-school YouTube (240p) or the main CW channel there won't be in HD, but maybe a wide screen 480p.

We have two Tribune stations here in Indianapolis so I hope at least one picks this up.

    Future of Diginets?

Also look at Pluto TV and Xumo TV, both of which offer free, live, multichannel packages like STIRR does. Pluto was recently bought by Viacom and they will keep the free offering but plan to add paid options as well.

Free Over-the-Air TV Is Going to Get Better

But if more stations move to VHF, we will need bigger antennas and have more trouble receiving the signal.

    Sinclair/Tribune update

I almost want to say that if all Sinclair wants to do with WGN America is air reruns, they should just flip WGN to a simulcast of one of their various subchannels, or perhaps use WGN to launch the rumored "Antenna TV Classic". They could still keep the WGN branding for a while if needed per...

The Official SatelliteGuys TV Repack Topic

I'm disappointed that Media General is keeping the crappy VHF signal of WISH TV and selling off the UHF signal of WNDY TV, but it's not all that surprising. I wonder if we will start to see a shakeout among subchannels, as the available "shelf space" in TV gets more scarce?

Seals Entertainment to launch new subchannel

I doubt it will ever be carried over the air, but for those who miss TechTV, try TWiT.tv and Revision3.com. For a while, some Revision3 programming was carried on YouToo America, but it isn't anymore, and Discovery bought Revision3, so if any of their shows did air on TV it would be on one of...

PBS Kids Channel In My Area?

WFYI played coy with me on Facebook and said to stay tuned, but since they are listed at the official PBS link I'm guessing PBS Kids will take over 20.2 when V-Me ends its contract.

Why don't US TV networks have their own digital channels?

PBS and ION do this - PBS has a "PBS Kids" channel and ION has "ION Life". NBC used to offer "NBC Weather Plus" but has since withdrawn it in favor of COZI TV which is part of NBC. ABC tried offering the "LiveWell Network" and it is now only on a handful of stations because it wasn't a big hit...

    V-Me

It would be great if more PBS stations would pick up FNX (fnx.org) even if for a 12 hour time slot. I asked my local V-Me affiliate, WFYI and they said their V-Me subchannel change (to something else?) will take place in March. They also said more details would be forthcoming.

    V-Me

I wonder what PBS stations will do to replace it? The only other noncommercial Spanish language service I am aware of is HITN ( www.hitn.org ). I suspect that many PBS stations, unless they already have a separate Kids channel, are likely to use the empty slot to carry the new PBS Kids 24/7...

    Sinclair Launching Second Diginet "TBD"?

Nexstar is known for charging very high rates and for not having many subchannels. So I think they have a different attitude that they would rather have cash money than shelf space or more channels. Perhaps they will change their tune. I bet some of the cable companies would say they'd much...

    Sinclair Launching Second Diginet "TBD"?

I think the theory is, somehow, that if you create lots of channels, even if they are low value, you can force them on to most cable systems by withholding your high value local affiliates (CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX) and then that makes the channels worth something, so then you can charge more for ads...

LIght TV coming to some of the fox stations O&O

My impression is that they plan to primarily show scripted series and movies with "faith and family" themes; I don't get the impression they plan to have any directly religious preaching or teaching.

Lafayette, IN to get NBC/FOX affiliate

https://radioinsight.com/blog/headlines/108874/lafayette-tv-acquires-artistic-medias-lafayette-in-cluster/ Presumably NBC and FOX will each be carried on subchannels of the new WPBI-LD TV. This will leave them with ABC, CW, and PBS from out of market. Seems like it might be more of a syndex...

    A new one coming

I'm a little disappointed that for all the action with CBS and CW in our market (Indianapolis) no one has picked up Decades. I really thought it would be a great idea for the station that lost CBS, because they could still claim to have some CBS programming on Decades - or for the new station...

    A new one coming

Yeah, I can see ATV Classics getting on the air easily in Tribune markets (we have two Tribune stations here) but is there really enough "shelf space" left in other markets to make it successful? Even here, our Tribune stations already have two subs each: WTTV CBS 4.1 WTTV Independent 4.2 WTTV...

I never watched the sports on HTSN, not a sports fan, but it had excellent news coverage and often carried local news events live and extended severe weather updates live. I bet once they flip the switch to Grit, that's lights out for local content. I can't imagine that the local sports were...

BTW TuffTV replied to me on Facebook and explained they have no TV-related business relationship with GPB. They are simply a tenant in the GPB building. http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/95367/tuff-tv-announces-new-corporate-hq-studio#.V1iD7pPQ4Wo.facebook

    GO Channel from Tuff TV?

I wonder if GPB will start a new digital subchannel network "GO Channel" with their own Georgia Outdoors plus selected Tuff TV programming? And perhaps as part of the deal they get nationwide carriage of Georgia Outdoors on Tuff TV? This is certainly a new niche for a non-commercial network. I...

WGN Parting ways with The CW

I'm hoping that this means the WGN Sports over-the-air syndication package will have even more games in it than before, now that more games will be carried on WGN Chicago.
