    I do imagine the pricing will go up. I do have an advantage of the multi service discount, because I'm getting my broadband from them as well as television - and I'd probably continue to do so if I go to something else for TV.

    Literally one day before this announcement, I had sent mail to one of this guy's direct reports complaining about being unable to get HBO added to my account (very long hold times or the system was down). The VP's office was very responsive then.

    I made the switch a couple months ago (well, added TW a couple months ago, dropped Dish about 1 month ago) in southern california. PQ is roughly equivalent (some channels better, some worse), the selection is different. I appreciate the extra $10 discount from having broadband internet access...

    Why do we continue to pay for channels..

    I would gladly pay a buck or two per channel I watch if I could do it ala carte. Heck, I could pay $5 and maybe even $10 per channel I watch and save over what I'm paying now. I am irked and offended when I see commercials on a premium channel, like on Discovery HD. I don't hold the "bulk"...

    HDNet test patterns

    Pick up a copy of Avia or Video Essentials, which go over calibration in detail. You can then hopefully use the hdnet patterns to calibrate your set. I've used both DVDs to calibrate my HD pattern at 480p, but I haven't done it with the test patterns yet.
