    Ethernet disconnect switch

For lightning protection, I would just go ahead and unplug it each time. Buy spare cables and/or 8P8C/RJ-45 couplers for if/when things wear out. Forget using any kind of switch to protect against lightning, probably not worth the risk.

    Ethernet disconnect switch

Monoprice product #1373 is a two-way RJ45 (or 8P8C) mechanical switch that will do what you need. It sells for less than US$10. I can post a link if needed.

ESX242 C-band LNBF skew on motorized dish: 90 degrees off?

I thought about it more, after reading more comments elsewhere, and I realized that if we think of it in terms of elevation (which is what vertical versus horizontal is), then horizontal is indeed 0 degrees and vertical is 90.

ESX242 C-band LNBF skew on motorized dish: 90 degrees off?

Thank you for the confirmations, waylew and Anole. I looked for a dual-band, dual-output LNBF but could not find one, and I saw comments saying that smaller dishes are better for Ku reception anyway.

Kijiji, eBay, and Craigslist dishes for you to take a look at

I think you described it very clearly. It is the satellite-dish equivalent of "fish-tankers", people who destroy antique TV sets by ripping out the chassis and using the cabinet to hold liquor, or a flat-panel TV, or a fish tank.

ESX242 C-band LNBF skew on motorized dish: 90 degrees off?

FaT Air- Thank you for the quick reply. I did exactly that, and it solved the "problem".

ESX242 C-band LNBF skew on motorized dish: 90 degrees off?

Hi all- I bought an ESX242 dual-output C-band LNBF, and since my dish (10-foot KTI, I think) is motorized, I set the skew at 0 with the dish pointed at its apex/southernmost satellite (121 in my case). To me, zero meant "straight up" with the dish at the top of the arc. I connected one output...

Kijiji, eBay, and Craigslist dishes for you to take a look at

Wow, that was the ultimate "dream" dish in the late 80s and 1990s. Those are the ones that lived through hurricanes in the Bahamas and similar places.

G1 tile now gone from 4dtv

You are also missing C4 and W7, I see. Is the receiver a DSR-922, or a DSR-920? I have read that the '920s can lose "tiles" if they are unprogrammed from the list. The only idea I have is to maybe change your LNB setting from C only to C/Ku or others if available, then back if needed. However...

    What's A 10ft Dish Worth For Scrap?

I was afraid maybe I should not have mentioned it. :) Was there something I could have done with the mount to open up the moving range? From what I understand of H-to-H mounts, this was like that but with the motor housing cast in a position making it physically impossible to move past a...

    What's A 10ft Dish Worth For Scrap?

I sold the pieces of a 10-foot perforated aluminum dish a few years ago for $84 to a recycler. That was only after I had replaced it with a better-condition 10-foot dish made with expanded-metal panels (that is "mesh", I am guessing). The first one was an odd dish. It had to have been...
