Project Big Changes - Linuxman to Newbie (GenBap)

Still hacking away at this project. Gave up for the time on the ku band motorized dish I got from Linuxman. Just too inconsistent and taking way too much of my time to tune. So I bought a DMX741 standard LNB and now watch all my c and ku band off the 10 foot unimesh. I simply put it on at...

    New to 4dTV receivers

Exactly the feeling I was getting, so I left the ballpark. Already pulled the receiver offline and it is now sitting in the corner. Maybe I will tackle it again someday or maybe just try to sell it.

    New to 4dTV receivers

Fred (linuxman) gave me a General Instruments 4DTV receiver the last time I was there to get a motorized ku system from him. I have set it up below my Openbox and turned it on. But now I have no idea what to do. I am not interested in a 4DTV subscription but would like to get the digicipher 2...

Project Big Changes - Linuxman to Newbie (GenBap)

Linuxman, I am sure I have more tuning to do but I must say that to this point this has not been bad at all. Wiring the motor to the gbox in the living room was perhaps the most difficult thing I have done on this project. The gbox is amazing and works flawlessly. For now I am using it...

Project Big Changes - Linuxman to Newbie (GenBap)

Thanks linuxman. Great help! I think I put the lnbf at 3:00 instead of 9:00 so I will have to check that. Had not considered the skew, I guess I read right over that in my research. Dish is all together and set up. Work on wiring and elevation tomorrow. Made it all home with everything...

Project Big Changes - Linuxman to Newbie (GenBap)

I am wanting to set the declination of the motor before putting it on the pole. If I understand the chart at geo-obrit correctly, Linuxman's declination (38N) is 5.40 and mine (36N) is 5.16 - less than 3/10's difference. The chart for the Ajax H-H found in manual posted by Iceman show...

Project Big Changes - Linuxman to Newbie (GenBap)

The little 6'er included our favorite word 'free'! We would have figured out something. Actually I was surprised by the wife's response, still quizzing over it actually. Spent the day working on the fantastic NPRM to get the pole plumb and level. Linuxman had it on a flat roof, I am putting...

Project Big Changes - Linuxman to Newbie (GenBap)

Took my son in law to St. Louis yesterday to see Linuxman. Linux was a very hospitable and informative host and a really big help as well. I left with pretty much everything I need to get started in c-band - 10' unimesh, lnb, g box, cables, NPRM (a Linuxman design), connectors, cement blocks...

Birdview 8.5' mesh dish for sale

Oh, I would not put it on my roof either mnmhill. But I still like the roof mount idea but closer to the ground of course. I really was just trying to give you a cost basis to see if you really wanted to continue to sell it or salvage it. I doubt you will get $200 for it anyway. I don't know...

Birdview 8.5' mesh dish for sale

I think all the recycle talk is meant to be tongue in check. Not in the sense that they will not recycle the unit, but in the "perish the thought" sense of people who love the hobby. Another person, also from Missouri, has had their birdview for sale since April with a roof mount for $200. I...
