24" Von Weise actuator only extends 12"

I remember being able to buy replacement Acme nuts for these things maybe 20 or so years ago.....ahhh the good old days. I think at the time you had the choice of nylon or brass......but I may be remembering incorrectly.

I have never tried my BUD on Ku band for a few reasons. One, because I don't think it's "perfect" enough for Ku and two because I have my doubts about the mesh size and three because I have a voltage controlled LNBF on the BUD and I have not run a wire for a polarotor and the only C/Ku feedhorn...

Thanks for the details. I have a couple of 30" Star Choice dishes and a Channel Master oval (can't remember the model). I think the 1m might be overkill. My dish is a Orbitron 10'. That idea just makes so darned much sense to me I don't know why I never thought of it!I've been wanting a...

I just saw the picture you posted on another thread regarding the Ku dish you attached to a C-Band and it looks very interesting to me. Certainly would be easier than having separate positioners etc. for both and being as how I already have a 10' dish that tracks the arc perfectly, it wouldn't...

    Which Pack Will You Pick??

I still don't see the DIY channel anywhere there so I won't be subbing to any at the present time.

Channel Mapping on W5 at this time

Mike, thanks for keeping us up to date. I checked out the website but I saw no active link to sign up for email notification. I am a current subscriber with Skyvision and I have been getting other emails, will this be sufficient or do I still have to sign up?

YES! 4DTV on W5 almost certain

Yeah, and I don't see DIY or Food.........well any of the Scripps pkg. That is a deal breaker for me. Edit: I see some of the Scripps channels but not all.

    DMX

I don't have auto updates as I have a 905 but my wife went over to G1 to watch Cinemax before I realized there was an issue with DMX. So at 58° they are available, are they the same channels?

    DMX

So what is the verdict. I steered my dish to W5 this evening and my 905 is not showing any of the DMX channels in the 800s, I tried a couple generics to no avail. Is anyone else able to get 'em with a commercial receiver?

How to re-assemble a 10' Mesh Satellite Dish

And the dish is likely a Tee-Com as opposed to Tec-Com. That may help you in your search.

How much did you pay for your first C-Band dish?

The first C-Band dish I had cost me probably $4-500 as I recall. This was just for the dish, mount and base. It was (and still is) a 6' StarTrak dish. It was used when I got it. A friend of the family gave me an old feedhorn, LNA and downconverter when he upgraded along with a Drake "earth...

New to siteand have a Old/Big Dish question!

Hi and Welcome!!! Well what I would do with it is use it! There is a lot of programming still available on C-Band (big old dish) but now probably 99% of it has switched to digital meaning that whatever old analog receiver you might have is no longer capable of bringing in the signal. Good...

    This BUD's for Me!!

Sweet! Nice dish. With a bit of clean up you are going to have a great BUD there. Looks like a 7 or maybe an 8 footer. You'd have to measure to be sure. There are lots of dos and don'ts. First of all, go a day or two ahead of your intended removal date and spray down all nuts and bolts etc...

    Minimal signal for G1 HBO

That's what I was missing originally, I was thrown off by what he listed in his sig. It said he had a LNBF. Sorry for confusing matters.

    Minimal signal for G1 HBO

Right but my point being that once you have mechanically peaked your LNBF then the skew adjustments on your receiver do absolutely nothing. So in Longhair's case the numbers he is seeing for skew don't matter and have nothing to do with his problem because he has a LNBF.

    Minimal signal for G1 HBO

But with an LNBF it shouldn't matter.........am I right about that? :)
  18. Inno

    Minimal signal for G1 HBO

Your sig says you have a LNBF therefore the skew settings should not matter as long as you have selected LNBF in the menu. Options 6,3,2 and select the type of LNBF you have. My 905 is set to C-Band LNBF and for the sake of argument and because there is nothing on Ku, yours could probably be the...

    Minimal signal for G1 HBO

On my 905 40 seems to be about the lowest that will bring in a usable signal. I'd try to get more signal as that would get pretty annoying if the weather is bad or something changes. It would suck to sub for a year and not be able to get the full use of the channels you've paid for.

    Minimal signal for G1 HBO

I dunno...........I can go to one of my Cinemax channels and de-tune the dish and see what the threshold appears to be.

    G9 Starz HD Gone...

I agree with the last comment but once I start it will be a very long and drawn out process! I'm not ready to invest the time right now. When it gets done the whole home theater/media center will be be re-vamped. The previous owner built it and while he had the right idea, he had no real...

    G9 Starz HD Gone...

I contemplated the 3500 with component but the problem is that all the equipment is at one end of the room and the TV is in another. The switching takes place in the HT receiver which does not have component switching. I have one that does do component switching but it does not upconvert any of...

    G9 Starz HD Gone...

Of all my input sources the 4DTV is definitely the best SD source I have, aside from the handful of analog on C-Band but it is still not comparable to a good quality Blu-Ray movie. In my case though my DSR905 does not have a S-video connection so I'm connected via composite video.

    G9 Starz HD Gone...

Agreed and watching SD on an HD screen is probably the WORST way to watch TV. I remember when the first plasma and LCD sets came out. I was working at a consumer electronics store at the time. There was only 2-3 channels of HD available on Bell and nothing on cable at all in our area. So many...
