adjusting the declination on the dish.

From what you have stated sounds like the north south Axis is out. This is the most difficult thing to get spot on. Yes, to the East would be the go, I think. I have to think backwards:) as I'm on the south side of the equator. I would be reluctant to adjust the declination. Unless your really...

does your wife support your dish hobby?

My wife supports it. Happy I have a hobby that I'm passionate about. Although she did ask if I could paint my BUD's green to blend into the vegitation a little.

    satellite reciever without blind scan.

It's called a Phoenix 333. It's a Korean made box. It was also sold under different labels as well. I think it was Ecostar and Praxis. It will search thru the band in Analog but as Iceberg mentions there no S/R's with analog. And when it comes to digital there can be different S/R's and FEC's...

tracking the arc with satellite finder

They are way over sensative try putting meters and meters of cable inline with the things. Well, this is what I have heard about them. Never used one myself. Prefer the taking the telle and box out to the dish. Nothing beats it except for a dedicated spectrum analizer but a litte over the top...

    satellite reciever without blind scan.

I think that analog signals will go in time. There is only one analog signal I can receive here in this part of the world now. DVB is just so much more efficient with the spectrum. Although I miss the analog days. Not all digital receivers are smart or blind scan some of the basic models you...

    C-Band circular polarization

Ok there here is a pic of the guts of my CoRotor it had the plate fitted as standard. I thought they were all like that? There should be slots in the waveguide as well to locate it. There is several ways to go on circ polarisation road. You can use a plate with a voltage switchable H and V feed...

Adventures in dish hunting and what we find

Looks a bit sad but if passes the string test (not warped) and you get it for nothing might be a nice project.

Picking Up Russian Birds By Pointing Dish North?

Locked a few inclinded orbit sats in my time, mostly Russian but never any low earth orbit or anything racing across the sky. BTW. truckracer, I like you car, good Aussie muscle car but only better:) :up

    all satellites in space.

There are quite a few signals that can be found with a T.V sat receiver and a big dish. Quite often in a scan the receiver will find non DVB signals but they wont load of course. As Iceberg mentioned they are most likley encrypted. These signals are probably data and internet.

    c band digital blind scanning

Although you might see a frequency/transpnder on Lyngsat for instance stating it is a feed frequency unless it is active or at least a carrier at the time your DVB blind scanner will miss it and sometimes, allthough rare, even miss it when it is active. Had that before, rescaned and up it poped...

    just a Idea

Stating your location can help quite a bit. This was brought up on a forum for the Asia Pacific region that I have contributed to. You don't even have to put your city or town but even a region or state can help and can paint a bit of picture without having to give to much away. For instance...

    Holes in Mesh

Here is my theory on the subject that I mentioned if another thread. http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?p=891037#post891037 As caddata mentioned a perforated metal dish may perform better than a mesh dispite the fact it may have larger holes than the mesh. Now there would be loss thru...

    Uses for analog receiver?

With an S-Band LNB, use the thing to snoop on 2.4Ghz baby and security monitor cameras.:D By the way do you have 2.4Ghz short range (low power) Tx gear in the U.S.?

    crazy wild feeds and backhauls

Yes it can be quite a blast htownjoe. Caught a few amazing things over the years. I would imagine there would be more satellite traffic in English in your part of the world. A few years ago found a feed from a sat that everyone thought was dead (for years) but the techs in Indonesia gave it run...

Down the middle hole or over the rim?

Don't think it makes any difference. Just personal prefference. When it comes to shading the dish, percentage wise there is hardly nothing in it.

    Sat Finder

Just a tip jagee. If your just looking to set up on one sat. Not a polar mount setup for many. Just find and set the elevation for your location first. If it's an offset dish, take into account the offset of the dish when doing so. Now provided the pole is plumb and the top of the pole is...

How to get this BUD home.

Depends on how far you have to go to get it. Use the minimum amount of disassembly as posible and mark everthing before you do, so the panels go back in the same order. Hard to make out from the pics. but looks well made so less chance of warpage. Good find.

Want to get c band...need advice

When it comes to Cband a mesh dish is fine. A solid dish will not have any big improvement on Cband. However if you do want to receive Ku off the same dish. A solid dish would be better. Not so much in the fact that it has no holes like mesh but because the surface accuracy of solid dish is...

    Big Dish's

No worries mate! As we say here.:) I'll see what we can come with. Nice pics there Iceberg. Nothing like the good old holesaw to make a multi LNB setup.:D Looks very green where you are to. Trees are a major battle here. Had to mount my big solid in the front yard to get a good look at the...

    Big Dish's

Thought I better revist this thread. This time with some photies of my dishes. The first 3 pics of my main dish I use for DXing. A 2.7M, note the home brew dual feed. One of the reasons I have 2 actuators on this dish. Sure there is losses with the offset feed but dish size makes up for this...

    36V or 24V actuator

36vdc. Use a 24"H/D Superjack on a 2.7M (8' 10") one piece alluminium solid dish. Use a stand alone Motech VboxII to drive it. Also a have fitted a lighter duty 18" Actuator for ellevation. For Inclinded sats. and tweaking with a second VboxII to drive that.

    What dish is this?

Although I don't recognise this dish colbec. It looks good with a strong mount and acurate surface, if the mesh is small enough it may work well for Ku. Noticed it's also a rather fast dish (deep). Just guessing but maybe about .35 FD. A deep dish does trade off a bit of gain but this can...

7/8 FEC great for tweaking dish.

Nice work there tvropro. Don't forget to tweak that skew. Find a really strong transponder and switch your reciever to the opposite polarity if you can still see the the signal on your meter in the menu, null it out so you can't or so it is at the lowest level. Don't forget to tweak that focal...

    Dish Movement

Try swaping the wire around on your box if it drives the dish to the east (arm extending) you'll know the problem will be in the box itself and not the actuator. If the problem is in the actuator it could be the mechanical limit switch for the maximum extention could have a problem.

    C Band Polarotor LNBF

If there is now skew control on the back of the receiver there is no easy way. You could use another reciever that has skew control but this would be a bit of pain this way. Maybe with the reciever that has it then loop thru to the newer type receiver without the scew control. When hooking this...
