    Source for a 2.4m dish

I won't be able to mount anything that requires a pole, that's why I want something with a ground mount like I have. Sadoun doesn't seem to sell one that is ground mounted, only pole.

    Source for a 2.4m dish

I'd like to get a 2.4m dish to replace my 1.8m dish that won't pick up DW-TV anymore. I want a 2.4m dish with a ground mount like the one on the left, to replace the one on the right: I am not able to find a reseller that sells the Fortec Star 2.4m. I know there are equivalents, just rebranded...

    DC2 Channel hunting

DCII is still used for a little over half of the SD channels on any cable or pizza dish system. Most are unfortunately encrypted as you already know. There are a good amount of HD channels available on cable and pizza dish systems that still use DCII split and combined mode. HBO, Starz, and a...

    Smallest Dish for QVC?

If you use an offset dish you need a conical scalar ring for your C band feed. A 4 foot should work, but a 6 footer would work much better. I only got QVC on my 8 footer, and I know the bit error rate was very low, and the signal is easy to lock. I can receive it now very easily, actually. This...

    ESPN finally leaves analog

ESPN is doing a DCII DVB-S2 MPEG4 upgrade. See here. The signals on Galaxy 14 are going to be DCII DVB-S2 MPEG4. The IRDs they are using are the DSR-6100. I think they will be transmitting HD only, and the IRDs will do the SD downconversion.

    analog audio?

C-SPAN Radio is now DCII. I think all that is left is EWTN Radio.

    DSR4410 setup - help!

There is a setting that triggers the alarm, either loss of video, signal, or authorization. I just turn off the alarm and bypass.

    Satellite Signal Meters

The Maxpeak SAM won't automatically identify what bird you are pointing at, but will tell you the signal strength and quality of the bird you set it to in the meter. I set it to AMC 10 H and connect it to the horizontal LNB. I then try to find the bird by moving the dish around, and once I find...

    DSR4410 setup - help!

Transponder 6 has only in the clear audio channels. Channel 409 will not output any video at all, it'll just give you a black screen. You'll only get audio output. Connect the + and ground on the IRD with the screw terminals to your tv or amplifier, for both left and right channels. Use primary...

    DSR-4500X

The DSR-4500X is a bit funny. You need to set RF parameters first, I think, then wait a few seconds after it locks the signal for the VCT to download. Once it downloads, you'll have the option to only pick one, then you pick the channel you want. The order you do it is important, because if you...

    DSR4410 Remote management (SNMP)

You can't really do much here. It's mainly for SNMP and multicast IP data from certain streams such as the Weather Channel multiplex. You can upgrade the firmware via the network port too, with a windows firmware upgrade utility from Motorola.

    Norsat LNB Cheap!

I use Norsat 8515 and 8115 LNBs and they are rock solid. Best performing LNB out there other than Cal Amp. I wouldn't use anything else.

    Thinking about orthomode feedhorns

I use this same Chaparral feedhorn and Norsat LNBs on both my C band dishes. I use dual feedlines and these feedhorns and LNBs work like tanks. Best possible signal. I use Norsat 8515 and 8115 LNBs and I love them.

    GI DSR-4000 ?

These are old IRDs. I think they are DCI but I'm not sure. If you are going to play with commercial DCII IRDs, you want a DSR-4410 or a DSR-4530 which has multicast or unicast IP output as well. The older DSR-4402X is ok too. Forget about the 2U DSR-4500X and the DSR-4520, though the DSR-4520 is...

    Satellite Signal Meters

I use a Maxpeak SAM that I got off eBay for $250. Best meter I've ever used in my life. It retails for about $500, but if you can get it cheaper, it's worth every penny. It makes pointing and peaking a breeze. It can be a pain to hold and adjust at the same time, that is the only drawback. I...

looking to get c band lnb need help choosing

I love Norsat LNBs so much that I'm going to have them buried with me when I die. :) My personal choice is Norsat 8115. I use that and Norsat 8515 and I love both. The 8115 should do better locking in DVB-S2.

    C-Band going KU??

C-Band is the backbone of the TV industry. It's used to distribute signals to cable companies, pizza dish companies, and radio/broadcast TV. It will never die.

C- Band : How to amplify signal?

An amplifier will do very little for a signal problems on a smaller C band dish. The only way to get stronger signal that won't break up or go out is a larger dish. There is no way around it. Believe me, I've tried! :) You need a bigger dish. This is why the cable companies use no smaller than...

    signal bouncing to zero?

In my experience, signal bouncing like that is due to adjacent satellite signals. It causes too much noise on the desired signal that the receiver can't lock. Even with my 8 footer, I still don't get the best quality on the high FEC muxes. You get get a lot with an 8 footer, but if you could, go...

    Determining unknown DCII VCTs

Acquire the signal, and just chose the VCT that is picked up. On Motorola IRDs, I acquire the signal, wait a few seconds, go to change the VCT, and all the available VCTs are selectable. Most of the time there is just one. If you chose to tune a different multiplex, the old VCT is still...

    From Turner Broadcasting Inc.

They use Scientific Atlanta D9850 IRDs with the Turner logo on them. Those IRDs are part of the "Turner" pool of PowerVu IRDs that only Turner will authorize. They are really great IRDs though for regular DVB services if you have a mini cable headend setup in your house. I have one I use for...

    Wives and BUDs

Eventually, if/when I purchase another house, I want to have, at minimum, a 10ft dish for 103W, 131W, 135W, and 125W. Ideally, I want 3.7m dishes for each. I'll run conduit from the house to one of the dishes and terminate it in a wiring box. Smaller conduit from the other dishes will terminate...

    DTE-7150 / DSR-4800

    From Turner Broadcasting Inc.

Complete Bull#*@!. They CAN authorize D9432 and the D9834 receivers with no issue. They can do residential subscriptions with no problem whatsoever, but there is more money in large bulk subscriptions for the cable companies and pizza dish companies. Tuner won't do it because they feel their...
