Univision - (our) Move from Galaxy 17 to Anik 3

If "Anik 3" is Anik F3, the only transmissions are DISH Network transmissions on the Ku-band and data transmissions on the c-band. No video services such as Univision.

    Site Survey Phone App?

Or you are like me up near the Sandias and my arc gets cut off at about 50 deg W due to mountain and tall 20-30 foot trees (no scrub brush here like our forum friend from Datil!)

    Baseball Games????

you may not be looking at the times a game is going on. For the feeds that aren't fibered or backpacked, once you've located a broadcaster's satellite feed, it's been pretty much the same satellite all spring long for that broadcaster with very rare variation. Since you claim your two...

Is Galaxy 16 at 99°W getting weaker or near its end of life?

I checked satsignature and I don't see anything out of the ordinary in their Galaxy 16 c-band reception and considernig they use large teleport-sized dishes, I didn't expect to see any nearby satellite interference issues on their captures. SES-1 is filling up quite a bit (and Galaxy 19 as...

Is Galaxy 16 at 99°W getting weaker or near its end of life?

My 8.5 foot and larger dishes have no problem with Galaxy 16 C-band. In fact, the c-band side is up among the strongest birds I get in the arc. The Ku-band side is among the weakest in the arc for me. If one is using undersized dishes and having problems with Galaxy !6 c-band, it could be...

    Beta Laux 9 footer

I'm in the southwest U.S. No pic that I've dumped from my digital camera yet. I have been planning to run Ku on it but haven't gotten around to it yet so I'm just running a c-band ortho feed until I get around to installing the c/ku ortho feed.

    Beta Laux 9 footer

what that is interesting! My Laux beta 9 is just like the OP except it has solid panels instead of mesh panels. I guess I got the upgraded option. ;) most definitely grab it - my laux beta 9 performs awesome and I haven't found any signal it can't do that my 10 footers can. Assembled and...

    Manhattan DJ-1997 Receiver

ok, so no need to get the manhattan 1997 receiver then. I have MicroHD and Manhattan 1933 for my consumer FTA receivers and I have apple tv, roku and ipod touch to stream anything available from the web to my tv monitor so the 1997 gives me nothing new if it can't simplify my viewing of...

    Manhattan DJ-1997 Receiver

Does the DJ-1997 do internet IPTV or is it satellite-delivered IPTV? Sure would be nice to have a receiver to cut out all of the runaround to watch satellite-delivered IPTV streams, but I have a feeling this DJ-1997 is just a FTA receiver with a internet IPTV feature.

When was the last analog wildfeeds / backhaul you guys noticed?

I think Powerball drawings still feed in analog, but that is going on something I saw posted a few months ago about the feed and I haven't personally verified yet to see if that's still the case. The last thing I checked wtih my analog receiver was QVC a few weeks ago because there were lots of...

Why is Anik F2 so hard to get in AZ

Odd, Anik F2 C-band is a little weaker than Anik F1R and Eutelsat 113 West A (but not so much that I can't get data transmissions, occ feeds and the full-time video service from Anik F2). Ku-band is not too bad (about the same strength as Anik F1R) and I'm using a 10' dish in NM. You may...

    Brought home a Birdview today

welcome to the birdview club! I love the birdview 8.5 I picked up a few years ago (there's a thread in here somewhere about it) and use it every day! I was lucky I only had to drive about 1500 feet to pick it up (the satellite gods must have been smiling on me that it was someone in the...

    AMC-8 on a microbud

haven't tried it but I don't see why it would not work for the easy-peasy DVB-S carriers since nearby satellite AMC-7 is empty in the right places, eliminating a lot of nearby satellite interference potential trying to receive c-band on an undersized dish.

Shepherd's Chapel goes digital (and HD) August 1st

just tuned their digital test signal. It's weird to be watching Dr. Murray as clear as if I were in the control room watching the sermon being delivered/taped rather than watching with the occasional stray sparklie in the video. I do also appreciate the conversion to digital - makes my every...

    AMC-6 72W C Band

they've had to shut down many transponders on the bird due to satellite hardware issues, so you aren't likely to see much activity on C or Ku bands.

Shepherd's Chapel goes digital (and HD) August 1st

it's a smart idea - more channels, free up space so you can lower transponder rental costs to make ministry money go further or lease the other space on the transponder to raise more revenue for transponder costs or ministry outreach. I highly doubt much of Dr. Murray's material is in HD unless...

Any English Programming on SATMEX 8?

Do you really need english language channels when the Eutelsat birds have sports that are familiar enough to understand without needing pxp/color commentators and watching some attractive hispanic women in bikinis or skimpy clothing? ;) Seriously, you don't need to know english - the channels...

    HSN (C4-10) leaves analog

looking at Shepherd's chapel website, the best I can figure is that their "live" bible study airs just M-F, so saturday is the best day for analog feed interruption to run test windows for their digital signal until they feel they are ready to finish the transition to digital.

Stuck Nut on the elevation bolt on C-band big dish

I recommend a metal pipe or something that can give you more leverage on trying to turn the bolt. I've had good success with spraying and waiting with a PB blaster type product (forget what one I used) and then using a wrench with a metal pipe over the end to give me ridiculous leverage to get...

72w Ku in different position than 72w C band

I would guess you thought you were peaked up on c-band and then when you went to Ku-band, you had to adjust your dish position a click or two. Ku-band has tighter aiming tolerances than c-band, so it's best to align your dish and store your positions using Ku-band on those satellites that have...

    SES-2 problems

I find SES-2 c-band is a little weaker than G16 and G17 c-bands. That, combined with the guess that you are trying to receive a DVB-S2 signal on SES-2 plus it sounds like you are using a cheap chinese-made c/ku LNBF combo which usually favors one band at the expense of the other -- and you...

    Galaxy 23 (121W) - Erotic Networks

It was there at the end of January when I did my bimonthly all-sat survey. I assume it's still there as it's been there for a few years now. All is encrypted in that mux so you won't get free porn. Just get that from the internet. This is a different user than NOOF (no adult channels in...

Wish I knew how to construct a circuit - I would build one of these polarotor controllers!

Works great (12V out auto commands the box to tune the servo to V pol, 18V out commands the box to tune the servo to H pol, and it's repeatable so it's going to be right on H or V with each switching). I don't get why you would want to use a power inserter to have 18V all the time as this is...

    Troubleshooting help - HITS

I wouldn't doubt dish-peaking or thermal cycling might be an issue. If you had a really good windy day/night, wind loads on the dish could take some slop out of the actuator arm and affect the azimuth pointing of the dish just enough to lower digicipher signal levels. Bolts could also be...

channels that fade in and out of a partial scramble

other "could-be"s include: - LNB/LNBF going flakey or failing - your receiver or the uplink encoder is not completely DVB-S/DVB-S2 or audio/video codec compliant. Definitely first thing to to make sure your quality and signal and peak those up, because even 55% signal on one of my receivers...
