110/119 Listings Post 129 Transition (Updated 7/16/2025)

I went through the satellite/transponder listings and updated it through today, 7/6/2025. Once again, very few things that have changed over the last couple of months.

OH NO. This is upsetting. The screen says Merit TV has filed for bankruptcy.

Yeah - if I remember correctly, it was removed from DirecTV last week when the filed for bankruptcy and sued Trinity Broadcasting? I was surprised it wasn't removed earlier. The EPG was changed to Dr. Phil True Crime and Dr. Phil Primetime 24 hours a day the past couple of days.

Wow! A lot of changes on Western Arc. Very strange to have all of these changes at once after almost 2 years of minimal movement. As I am looking at the changes, Dish cleaned up 110, TP 21, which was a free for all with a mixture of SD, HD, and music channels. They moved all their SD channels off this transponder and put them with other SD channels. There were then 5 HD channels that moved from transponders that were already maxed out to 110, TP 21. With Merit Street Media dropping the Dr. Phil channel (currently just a static slate), that means there are in essence 6 slots available for HD channels that weren't there previously.

As I am cleaning up my data after all of the recent changes, it makes me wonder what Dish's next move could be. Right now, Dish has 36 channels dedicated to Extra Innings, League Pass, Center Ice, MLB Alternate, NHL Alternate, the 4 Big 10 alternate channels, the 3 sports alternate channels, NFL RedZone, MLB StrikeZone, and the PPV sporting events. 16 channels on 110, TP 09, 16 channels on 110, TP 15, and 4 on 110, TP 24.

With the retirement of 118, we saw Dish move all international packages to be streaming only. It makes me wonder if in the future we will see Dish make the 3 out of market sports packages streaming only. If they did, there would be no need for the equivalent of 36 channels sitting there.

Nothing new in today's uplink outside of 247's slate being removed. I have updated the listings on the first couple of posts with all the changes that were made previously.

Today's uplink had the BOOST channel updated. Channel 9548, mapped down to 204, is a duplicate of channel 9547.

It is a fascinating video - talking about the big dishes, launching Echostar 1, the transition to small dishes, how they worked with RFD-TV to launch that network, going to court to fight for DVR and being able to skip commercials as well as being allowed to show local channels. Granted, it is a huge advertisement for Boost Mobile, but I found the satellite part fascinating and a trip down memory lane.

I'm glad you mentioned the channel 204 content. Recording it now and set a timer for 7pm tonite. Super interesting.

Very fascinating indeed! I see it was also uplinked to channel 100. I don't recall seeing it at 100 when I checked earlier.
