Out here somewhere
Why doesn't Dish make a 1 TV, 1 tuner DVR anymore like the old 508? I need to replace the 508 in bedroom to a Mpeg 4 receiver. It appears that I now I have to run another cable to the bedroom and my only choice is a VIP 612. Please don't suggest a 211 w/ehd. I don't want to go that way due to room/etc..
Not everyone needs a two tuner DVR! Any other options or is dish coming out with a 211 w/builtin HDD?
Thanks, Gerry

A 612 with a DPP and separator works with a single line. All TVs now being sold are digital ready and most are HDTV so why manufacture a SD DVR. If your going to DVR why not have 2 tuners so you can watch and record at the same time?

Will have to..

I will have to research the DPP/separator. Currently I am using a DPP34. I didn't say anything about a SD DVR tho as I mentioned a 211 w/HDD.
Thanks for the input.

To use the DPP Separator you must also have a DishPro Plus switch, either internal (DPP Twin, Dish 1000.2, Dish 1000.4) or external (DPP33, DPP44).

The DP34 (note the one P) is not a Plus switch. The installer will likely include one as part of the HD dish upgrade rather than run another line.

I understand space is at a premium, but the 211k at 13 W x 10 D x 2 H plus and EHD is not much bigger than a 612 at 16 ; W x 13 ; D x 3.5 ; H. Of course that's another thing that needs to be plugged in.

DishNow DishYa - how to and Thanks!
