I guess I missed the relevant post about this, but why does FOXSD bounce around from transponder to transponder almost every day?

SD stands for San Diego.

I know that. :)

For example, I am saying that some games on Fox Sports Southwest and Cox Sports are sometimes in HD and sometimes in SD. Sometimes the games are joined in progress in HD, too. I wonder if it is the same for that channel.

Yes. This channel and nearly all the RSN HD channels and other sports channels and alternates are virtual channels. There is not enough bandwidth for Dish to have all the HD RSNs and all the SD alternates going at the same time. In the case of the alternates, they aren't active 24/7 anyway.

The real channels are the are named SKDL for SD channels and HDSKD for HD channels. They are hidden from subscribers in the 5700/5800 channel range. Every day Dish changes the virtual channels to point to the correct SKD channel to provide the correct programming to the correct areas.

The uplink activity program that posts all the changes has a filter that removes most of these changes. This particular channel is "new" and it needs to be added to the filter.

FOXSD isn't "new" anymore. While I really appreciate these postings, it's way beyond time FOXSD is added to the filter. Seeing a post for it so frequently is extremely annoying. Trying not to complain but please add it to the filter.
