These look like LD stations, Sacramento and Los Angeles for sure...

They're not - they are putting these "dispute" channels NEAR to the actual channels in question...ch 10 f/Chicago is next to WGN-9; L.A. is for KTLA-5; St.Louis is for KPLR-11, Indianapolis is for WTTV-4, etc.

This is NOT going to happen because DISH can ONLY offer SV stations in markets that are normally short a network affiliate - BUT NOT BECAUSE OF A RETRANS IMPASS! They are under more stringent rules than D* is, after their whole illegal selling of locals OUTSIDE their local markets.

They also CANNOT just substitute another affiliate out of market for this network - period. (whoever wrote that "article" has NO clue on how retrans works

(edit) The ONLY exception to these rules...if any of these stations are carried in a DMA OUTSIDE their local DMA as an SV station, then E* could THEN pick another station of the same network, in a different out-of-market DMA. I know they have done this for a couple other retrans disputes.

Not entirely sure if this will affect the Tribune supers, since they are covered under completely different carriage rules. (WGN A is NO longer a super, so this wouldn't matter for it)

This is an example of how the entire DMA system is completely broken. In my opinion, the entire country needs to be broken down into even smaller, more locally-focused DMAs. For example, if Richland County, Ohio was its own separate one-station DMA (WMFD, an independent station) then any network affiliate could be brought in as a replacement during disputes, instead of leaving us stuck with Cleveland locals, or nothing at all.

Never said we were..but dish has been known to bend the rules

I think if you go to the fcc site It does state that if a station does not work in good faith The a provider can import a out of market. It was something new that Tom Wheeler of the fcc introduced this year

Yea & I "think" if you attempt to post a link that this was actually allowed, you'd find it went NOWHERE fast...the NAB still has the power on these things.
Also, even if this WAS to be allowed, the provider (E*, D*, cable system, etc.) would still have to get retrans consent of the OOM station to import...which they probably would NOT entertain giving...so as to not step on their local channel counterparts toes. (because the same thing would probably happen eventually in reverse)

Think about it...if it HAD actually come to fruition, then we STILL wouldn't be having all these local channel disputes on ALL providers to this day???

Meanwhile the FCC is auctioning off everything above channel 30..the NAB is in its death throws
