Despite what you might have read on another site, there are no 10,000 Dish Network receviers available, nor will there be 10,000 units available in the month of February.

Tonight I spent over and hour on the phone with various dealers around the country as they called into their local warehouse and the same story was told on each call.

"There was a problem with the receivers and we had to ship them back to get fixed"

In addition the 240 units number I posted yesterday was echoed by each person at each warehouse saying that there were only 240 units COMPANY WIDE.

One warehouse person even went so far as saying each Dish Network retailer will be lucky if they get one unit each before mid March.

And that is the latest I know. Sorry it is bad news. :(

There's no way I can live without an HD-DVR. Guess I'll keep my 942 and be waiting quite a while to view the new channels
Isn't the 622 now considered their flagship receiver? Nice!
This is worse than the Xbox 360 fiasco.

Yeah, you could be viewing them if some evil company we know would just give them an MPEG2 header. That is the least they can do since most people can't even get a 622 even if they want to pay for it.

Well it's going to be survival of the fittest tomorrow. Will the people that lease the receiver have a better chance of getting one then the people that are going to buy one?

If they only have 240 company wide the chances of getting one is slim and none tommorrow. Almost everyone will have to wait until April.

No word on that.

I just got a call from Claude at DishStore who echoed the stories I heard and posted about already. :(

I really would love to hear that there are 10,000 available, I really would.

So nobody knows how these 240 get distributed? Any ideas? I know where I stand in a pre-order list with a certain retailer, and just wonder what chance if any I have of getting my 622 anytime soon...

I'm pretty sure those 240 are already spoken for, as there are a little over 300 receiver numbers on the beta firmware download list. Meaning the beta testers might be the only ones with 622s come tomorrow :(.

I plan on calling tomorrow and vent my frustration. Curious what the CSRs have scripted when we ask to upgrade to a 622.

They will schedule your install smetime in april or march.

Thats what I'm thinking. Oh sure you'll be able to order a 622 tomorrow, but your upgrade install date won't be for a few weeks or more.

Its funny, I remember back in December we were all excited with the rumors of new channels and stuff, thinking they'd be available at the start of 2006. Now its Feb 1, the channels are just becoming available, and only those who can get their hands on a new receiver can view them. Forget even being able to DVR them. What a let-down.

Don't take it out on the CSR's please. This is not their fault. They are taking it from both ends (sides). Mad customers and upper mgmt that tells them nothing.

Curious I keep asking myself...if they had to send an undiscloused number of untis back to be fixed and there are on 240 or so left that are 'fine'....how is it that they (the 240 units) dont have the issue all the others have?

Seriously unless they cracked open each box and checked each one indivdually which I dont see them doing.

OR

They could say "we know that units with serial # A - W are bad but X - Z are okay...

This is a really bad thing and if is true I feel bad for anyone that even gets one of the "240" as they will prob. be bad as well.

That's true. I'll call anyway to find out what the wait is for a 622 installation. I wonder what the deal is now for the $200 rebate? Can't call and make an appointment until April 1st? Or do we qualify if we call ahead of time to book an April install? I can see it now. Can't call until April first for the rebate. Your install date is June or July.

Maybe not.. Its probably a small engineering lot that ran through the line to fix some last minute bugs.. Many times they will run a small lot for testing. 240 sounds about right for a small engineering sample.. I used to work on a prototype line for motorola.... I saw lots of sample lots over the years while working there.. These 240 are part of that sample.. that obviously went well.
