I just received an 811 i bought used, but looks in excellent condition.

After having it hooked up and running for just a few hours I just happen to go unhook it to move it to a differnt spot..I wanted it sitting ontop of my tv/cart.

The receiver was extremely warm, and almost hot! Do they normally get this hot?

The location I had it I didnt not have anything sitting on top of it so the vents were not covered. I have read a few post on problems some were having with thier receiver and was wondering if that fact it was hot could be causing alot of the issues and performance?

The 811 does not have a fan. The previous model the 6000 did and was rather noisy and still was hot. Has for the heat, the 811 will get hot. Hard to say what you mean by heat but it is designed to run without a fan. I would suggest not putting it in an enclosure without proper ventilation. Do not block the vents and you should be cool to go.

As for the 811 problems, they are not heat related thought there are some thoughts that there might be a hardware issue relating to dark video.

Thanks for that info..just wanted to make sure if that amount of heat was normal.
