All American direct on 119 only?

Out here somewhere
I looked through all the "eastern arc" sats (61.5,72.7,77) on "The List" and see that All American Direct channels are not on any of them. I only find the channels on sat 119.
I assume that this puts the kabash on anyone that lives in the east and has thought about putting up a one dish solution (1000.4) the lives in the sticks and subscribes to AAD.
Anyone heard of any plans for Dish to lease a transponder on any of the eastern arc sats?
Thanks, Gerry

You can easily add a side sat dish for either 119 or 110 with eastern arc dish setup. I did this with 110 for my Houston hd locals . It works just fine.

I believe the reason that the AAD channels are only on 119 is that they are a seperate company from Dish and are leasing the space from Dish. You would probably have to contact AAD and ask them to lease more space on one of the EA satellites. My guess is you can ask, but until enough people ask, they will only remain on 119. Dish has nothing to do with the AAD channels which was always fun to deal with for those few customers that had it. Those were always the last channels to come in when swapping a receiver for a customer, usually after having to call AAD directly and explain the receiver swap.

Aren't the AAD available only if you're in an area where you have no national locals? And, you only go to the EA if your local HDs are there. So, what is the necessity of moving to the EA if you don't have any locals?

Not Necessarily..

If I want to consolidate my two seperate dishes (61.5/110-119) and self install a 1000.4 for the EA satellites then I can do that without problem. All my receivers are MPEG4 and have the new smartcards. You don't have to have "locals" to do this and they really have nothing to do with the equation.

It does if your goal is to 'consolidate' your dishes. If you install a 1000.4 you will currently still need a wing dish pointed to 119 for the AAD, so I don't see any 'consolidation' in this equation! Where's the logic? Why are you looking at 61.5 right now? Would a 1000.2 pointed at 110, 119, & 129 work in your location?

You are correct...

You are correct in that I need 119 for AAD so it is not a logical move at this point unless AAD leases some space on EA. I have 61.5 right now for all HD that is coming off it. As my original question indicates, I was wondering if anyone heard any rumors that AAD was going to be on EA. Dish will never have locals where I live (as far as I see anyway) and I cannot see sat 129 so that's not going to work. I will stay "status quo" at this point.

Probably not. In Dish's eyes all EA customers are only in the areas where EA is allowed. In those areas they have locals available on EA, so there is no need for AAD. Then you have a few rare customers that have done an EA install themselves that need AAD. But those few rare customers do not pay AAD's bill for leasing an entire transponder and the uplink costs.

I gather from what you are saying (guess I don't know what your saying;) ) if I want to forget AAD and install a 1000.4 then I can do this w/o contacting dish (self install) is that correct? I have heard nothing to the contrary.
Thanks, Gerry

I see by your profile that you are in upstate NY, why can't you see 129? It is a LOS issue, or were you just not able to receive it previously? With the new Ciel 2 satellite, it should come in nice and strong. I believe that we are in the footprint of that satellite.

This is a LOS issue and low on the horizon. Elevation is only 18.4 degrees. I get everything I need off what I have now but was just playing around with some ideas.
Gerry

ps: central NY? I'm about 20 miles west of binghamton.

I installed a new system down in Elmira just over a year ago and nailed 129 with a dish 500. I got 129 and 119 before I had to re-aim the dish. But I guess if it is a LOS issue, then unfortunately you'll have to go with the two dish solution.
