AT&T's U-verse Adds Big Ten Network HD

The network will be available starting August 30.
By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (August 28, 2007) -- AT&T's U-verse is adding the new Big Ten Network in standard and High-Definition starting August 30.

The Big Ten Network will carry college football games this season as well as other college sports. But the network has had difficulties finding a spot in cable TV lineups with cable operators saying the network is asking for too much money.

DIRECTV has committed to carrying both the standard and high-def feeds of the new channel.

AT&T says U-verse TV customers can get the Big Ten Network for a programming package starting at $44 a month. The high-def channel is part of its HD package, which costs an extra $10 a month.

U-verse is available in about 15-20 major markets across the country.

The Big Ten Network will broadcast more than 400 live events and games in standard and high-def a year.

"The Big Ten Conference is followed by loyal alumni and football fans across the nation," said Dan York, AT&T's head of content and programming. "We're proud to include this great new network in our most popular programming packages. It's part of our ongoing commitment to offer our customers the content they want."
