Many of you have found out the SG2100 bracket is not exremely rigid and the process of tightening the pole clamps will disturb the aiming. I used a 1/4" steel plate to add some backbone to the bracket. I replaced the U-Bolts with allthread rods. This has significantly reduced the amount of flexing caused by tightning the mount.

Great solution and documentation photos!

And of course at some point, users should contact the distributors of HH motors (not just the SG2100) and demand that they invest 50 - 75 cents more in manufacturing to provide a heavier gauge bracket! Everyone knows it has been an ongoing problem for years, yet the distributors keep ordering and selling the same cheap products to the unsuspecting buyer. Unfortunately, most motor installations are a one time event by novices that will never know why the dish will never track the arc. If they knew that is was because of a 50 cent manufacturing savings, something would certainly hit the fan!

When we used to distribute the GS120 motor, it cost less than 50 cents per motor to provide a thicker metal for the bracket to minimize the distortion and proper hardware that didn't stretch and break when torqued to specifications. All we had to do was ask our manufacturer...... oh, yes....and pay 50 more cents!

I like it ! - :up

Might want a pipe-insert to prevent that bad boy from crushing your pole, too.

That is why I stuff a crumpled piece of newspaper down my mounting poles and fill the top 6-8 inches with concrete, so the pole can not crush or distort

Magic Static, great information thank you for sharing.
I would appreciate it very much if you could please take one more picture showing how your "Pipe" mast is attached to the structure. It would be the same pic as the dish but a little more to the left. Thanks again!

good job....

what i did was drill a hole through the mounting post and motor bracket....then i installed a bolt through the hole....this prevents the motor from turning on the post without the need to over-tighten the mounting bolts....

pipe mast

I took that dish down, and the others on the side of the house. That is why I was able to photograph the mod to the bracket. I did that a couple years ago. The mast I made from 1 1/2" pipe and fittings. The supports and mounting foot are from a 121SuperDish. I replaced the SG2100 with a new SG9120b and remounted that dish on my shed on a new pole (also 1 1/2"pipe)

Good idea as my steel plate mod will not fit your SG9120b
