Better to connect via phone or ethernet?

I have a 622 that I will connect to avoid the $5 monthly fee. Is there any difference between connecting via the phone or ethernet? Any additional features?

I use both...

I do the phone life so I get the caller ID screen pop

I do the ethernet so I can use the dish.sling.com to program my DVR from the web.

No difference in cost avoidance. You may get the 'no phone connected' message if you don't have the phone line - but they tell you that the ethernet method is fine. If you can do both (even with VOIP) they each have their advantages.

Video on Demand and the ability to set up your dvr recording on line is available via eithernet connection only. Phone line gives you more features in Dish Home including seeing and paying your bill.

I guess I'll just connect via both! Both lines are behind the TV.
