Sharp is going big this year with its new line. At the top of the list:

80” with full backlighting and “3-D XGen”. Sharp’s new technology. Ships in April.

60-70”: The 945 series will incorporate full backlighting from the Elite line, also.

Sharp will also be bring 4 new Quatron models in 60” & 70” the 847 and 745. If they follow earlier patterns, the 847 will be 120Hz and the 745 will be 240 Hz.

They will also be bringing in 4 portable models in 20, 32, 40, and 60 inches. Sorry, I’m not moving a 60”.

I might have to look into some of the new models. Trying to figure out what I want to do downstairs, larger TV or projector. Room doesn't really fit with a projector.

Not a bad price for the 80". Only $500 more on the MSRP than the Sony 65HX929. Might look at the 4K LG, also, depending on price. They'd have to do some miracles with the passive 3D. I noticed a lot of ghosting when I looked at tem last.

TV landscape is getting interesting. I figure I may buy in 2013, dunno though, because my projector room is the long term goal but it's 2-3 years out.

Ill be watching closely this year in LCD and Plasma. Oled in a 70"+ wont be affordable for awhile. Will also be looking at how that Sharp Elite pans out this year and next.

My wife's been wanting to go back to Vegas (went on our honeymoon), Jan 2013 would be a blast for me

Ive always wanted to go.

Sure they will. Consolidating is a good thing. They put out way too many models each year.

Im just seeing that since they shelved OLED, and looking at past large companies actions, Im betting Sony stops making tv's in the next 2-3 years. Just a hunch though.

Yeah, the price on the 70" 945 will be too much for my interest. If I get anything late in the year it'd prob be the VT50, 65" badass plasma for less than 4g's.

I was in my old shop yesterday picking up my new BDT320 , and they had just finished setting up the new Sharp LC70LE745U. Wow, did it look good. It is edge lit, but I saw absolutely no clouding, flash lighting, or creasing. Needless to say, the 80" 844 just might be in my house next week.

Trying to decide on wall mounting this beast. Weight is about the same as my 65vt25. Stand is just about a foot too narrow.
