Can I just get the hopper 3 with no other receivers at this time? I still have my old dish w/tripod for tailgating and may get a 2nd receiver later.
Do they still have a 30 day guarantee/trial period?
Where is the best site to sign up?

To get their best price, you have to agree to a commitment.

The only way to avoid one is buy your boxes, but I have no idea how that would affect price since you would basically be a new customer.

No trial period. You sign the contract for a specified commitment duration or you buy your equipment ($$$$).

In addition your old dish you have now may not work with the Hopper 3, which requires a newer LNB so that it can record 16 things at once.

Be careful if you use the Hopper3 for tailgating. It has a hard drive in it, too much jarring can crash the heads, best to get a ViP211 or a Wally for tailgating.
If you buy there are usually local retailers around, otherwise it is best to lease through Dish Network, that way you get a free install with usually a 2 year commitment. The discounted price does come with the 2 year commitment.
