Hello all coming back to Dish after being with ATT uverse for 3 Years in my Townhouse.

But anyways going to be getting 5 TVs I have a Hopper 1 from when i have had fish before.. are you able to use a Hopper 1 and a Hopper 3 setup.. if so are they see each others recordings..

While technically it would probably work (aside from the Hopper-to-Hopper glitches caused by the most recent software update) Dish will not allow it. Hopper 2 could be used with a Hopper 1, but if you want a Hopper 3, then that is the only kind of Hopper you can have on your account.

I've said this before but Dish has some really weird policies. They'll allow two Hopper 3s or a Hopper and two Wallys but not a mixed Hopper setup.

The only way they'll allow a Hopper and 2 Wallys is if the Wallys are for an RV or a Cottage/Cabin, etc and it's starting to look like it's getting even harder to have 2 Hopper 3's

Believe me you don't want to use your Hopper 1 anyway. Dish will force the Carbon GUI interface and at that point the Hopper 1 becomes painfully slow, glitchy and if you do have 2 Hoppers most of the features that makes them work together are then gone.

Yeah, I kind of assumed that maybe the OP still had recordings on the internal hard drive of the Hopper 1 that he was hoping to save or be able to watch them from the Hopper 3. Other than that, I can't really see much practical use for the old Hopper 1.

You should be able to transfer the recordings to an EHD and then to the new H3. The only problem would be if you end up with a new account number as thats what its tied to.

Sent from my SM-G900R4 using the SatelliteGuys app!

The recordings should still be playable as long as you leave them on the internal drive of the Hopper 1. If you try to transfer them to the Hopper 3, even if it looks like the transfer was completed successfully, you will likely end up with nothing but corrupted recordings that are non-playable. I found that out the hard way, trying to transfer recordings from a deactivated ViP722k to an activated Hopper 1. Both receivers had been on the same account. If the OP opens a new account instead of re-opening the old one, then the transfer definitely will not work.

For the direct receiver to receiver transfer, both have to be on the same GUI, which isn't possible with a 722 and a Hopper
