here we go again, in 2011, Dish was sued by Disney over carriage of the HD feeds of some of the channels owned by Disney without permission of Disney as Dish thought they were able to carry those HD feeds under the then-current deal with Disney when in reality, Disney was charging separate fees for carriage of the SD and HD feeds of the channels which meant Dish owed Disney money for the HD feeds
now fast forward 15 years later and Charlie Ergan pissed the house of the mouse off once more, this time with Sling TV' new min bundle which would give you a 1 day access to channels to view some channels for 1 day, which would be perfect for sports fans, and thanks to this, Disney is suing Dish/Echostar once again, and this comes at a time when Disney is rolling out the ESPN DTC app and also while Dish is having money issues to the point of nearing bankruptcy, and it resulted in Dish recently selling 5G cell phone spectrum to AT&T thus ending Dish's attempt of replacing Sprint as the 4th cell phone company.
it took 4 years for Dish and Disney to settle their 2010 dispute in court along with other cases involving the Hopper's auto-hop feature for Prime Time Anytime and it led to the now defunct Longhorn Network finally launching on Dish years after it launched elsewhere in 2014 along with clearing the way for the launch of the SEC Network later that year.
this lawsuit might be leading to Dish having a harder time getting a new long term deal with Disney which would allow access to ESPN Unlimited on the ESPN DTC app. i don't know when Dish/Sling's current deal with Disney expires, but it may impact it if this case goes to court for the next few years too.
