Can a person with a direct tv dish use it on another type system?
 
Sure, I have a Direct Dish and LNB for my 61.5 satellite reception (HD for a little while longer, and some locals). It feeds right into my 6000.
But, it is not the Dish 500 wide type, so you will not be able to use it as a dual satellite pickup.
