Dish equipment

Approximately 6 months ago, after being with DISH 10+ years I cancelled my service due to personal circumstances. I sent the DVR back but did not get on the roof to retrieve the part (don't know name) from the dish. I am ready to sign back up & wonder if I should allow installer to use same equipment on roof or,given I will be signing new contract, insist on new dish? Also, is the hopper now replacing " DVRs".
One last question (for this posting), Can anyone offer a suggestion for finding the various (best) promotions being offered?

It would help to know what equipment you had when you cancelled. The Hopper is a DVR, so not sure what you're asking. The only way you could ever get a better deal than the current new customer pricing would be from a local dealer, but that is at their discretion and would most likely be based on your past credit history.

I’m not an installer or work for Dish.. just a customer, but if I had a dish on the roof and wanted to sign up again, I’d request that they switch out the dish etc. if it was easy for me to get on the roof, I’d probably take it down so they had to replace. But that’s just me... it probably doesn’t make a difference either way depending on what you had before and what you’re getting. I’m just weird like that and am attracted to shiny new stuff.

Hopper is Dish’s whole home DVR... I’m sure you can get single units like a Wally or something like that.

As far as new promos, I went through Dish but as a lurker on these forums, a good local dealer will probably be your best best to weed through different promos and equipment.
