Dish HBO feud?

The lowest I've seen is U-verse which still has HBO for $16. If you want both HBO and Max, it's $26 which is not bad.

Comcast has all the Premium Channels as $10 when you add it to any Double/Triple packages.

The regular price is $19.99.

Who pays regular price, it has been that price for more then a year now as a add on, I just checked my Account page and all for Premiums are there at $10 each to add on.

Never pay attention to Reg.Prices, for example it says $25 for their HD DVR as reg. price but it is only $7.99 with bundles, I think DirecTV is the same way with theirs.

Also it looks like a lot of the Cable companies are discounting HBO.

Maybe we can get DISH to raise their prices to match Cable, then reduce HBO.

More seriously, I wonder if there is any pressure on DISH or Direct to lower the HBO price, or if there will be when some of HBO programming is available without a carrier subscription.

Don't give them any idea, they are headed in that direction.

Hard to make it $15 when HBO wants $14.99 themselves. Is there any provider that offers it less than $19 currently for the everyday price? If you like Cinemax, the HBO/Max $20/6 months deal is a killer offer.

Yep. Attached are all of the non-promotional, un-bundled full retail rates as of either Oct or Nov 2014 from Time Warner in my area.

$15 here for HBO. Showtime/TMC, Cinemax and Starz are $13 each. The Encore package which is actually listed twice, once as Encore and once as Movie Pass is $6 and includes Retroplex, Indeplex, FXM, and Sundance in addition to the 8 Encore channels, 6 of which are in HD.

I've recently made Time Warner my main TV provider and DirecTV my secondary. With my bundling I pay $47 extra for all of the movie channels when packaged together, HBO, Cinemax, Showtime/TMC, Starz, Encore and Epix. Out of those 52 channels, the only ones that aren't in HD are the West Coast feeds of the main feeds of HBO, Cinemax, Showtime along with Flix, Epix Drive In, Showtime Family, Encore Westerns and Encore Family. The vast majority of the content on each networks On Demand channel is also in HD, and HBO and Starz both have 3D content on demand. The only promotional rate under is Epix is costing me $5 for the first year, not $10.

When I left Comcast, HBO was basically at the same price as it is with Dish now. The same price as The Movie Channel. That's right, not included in the Showtime package, and those two measly channels were valued at the same price as HBO. That was in 2008. So, I don't know how Comcast can be seen as a reasonable comparison.

I agree but if they keep doing that then they need to rename the bb@home package to the hd extra pack just like it is with directv.

It used to be called the Dish Platinum HD pack, but since they put the Blockbuster name on it, it has increased its sales. Even after stopping the Disc by mail service.

What very badly needs to happen is that the marketing needs to take a back seat to a critical evaluation of what HBO does and doesn't bring. The same could probably be said of MTV and to some extent, ESPN.

Everyone is certain that these suites are "must haves" but are they? As Palladia's content gets a little creaky, I'm almost ready to off the whole of MTV and look to AXS and others for concert content.

Cinemax, to me, is just a total waste. Sure, it's worth $1. But, I find a herd time justifying the other $19 for HBO.

I refuse to pay full price for ANY premium movie pack any longer. I have Hbo but at 1/2 price or $9.50 a month, which is where is should be. It simply isn't worth any more than that. The other premiums I only take if they are free or 1/2 price or $7.00 a month. But I usually get $$$ credits off my bill from DISH to pay for them.

Not to mention if you are only in it for the network "originals" you can always just resubscribe for a month or two and catch up with HBO Go & Max Go (On Demand) I'm coming up on the end of my six months and I'll more than likely drop the service again.

But, Cinemax isn't worth more than $1.

I disagree, Banshee is great, I like Strike Back and from what I saw of the first five episodes of The Knick it was also a decent series. However, in the end we all have different tastes.

So without going into how I feel towards either channel, how much is too much on either channel, and when is a deal not a deal. HBO is pricey, but is it worth it? Same with Cinemax. It costs less, but are there enough people to justify its cost(I watch one of these channels and not the other... So I obviously have a bias, but to try to see it objectively I do try to think about is there enough customers that have Dish, and even other providers to justify the price, as in ESPn).

Does Dish support SAP?

Trimmed some fat, and it feels good...
