probably a dumb question, but, can a signal be received thru a sliding glass door with the dish as close to the floor as possible and as close to the glass as possible, with a 3' overhang on a wanai.Just trying to keep my dish.

I've read of people receiving satellite signals through windows and doors that were changed to a type of plexiglas. I think it requires a glass without silica in it.
Perhaps a talk with a prominent glass company or the technical department of Dishnetwork will give you your answer.
A small piece of the intended glass in front of your dish for a test should suffice.

The main contribution factor is a level of lead in the glass window or door; or other heavy metal, not Si.

I did a couple installs - works fine on regular glass; you should try before go for replacing to plexiglass.
