I guess something during last night's update wigged my Hopper out, this morning it locks @ the startup boot screen. Replacement is en route but I'm kicking myself for not backing up my recordings and especially so since I've got a like-new external HD just sitting by my computer. Curses!

Any tips for installation/setting up the replacement Hopper, pairing the Joeys & transferring my custom (Dish) multi-component remote settings?

You continue using the same remote. You don't swap that, unless there is something wrong with it.

Btw, have you tried unplugging/repluging the Hopper's power? That sort of reboot often restores Hoppers that are exhibiting wonky behavior. Then, if you still want to swap, at least you can transfer all of your recordings to the hdd.

Oh sure, multiple times. It's quite dead I'm afraid, I suspect that the HDD has died. On the remotes are you saying that all I have to do is pair them to the new receiver and all settings are retained?

Define "settings".

My remotes are all programmed to control multiple, different components including the primary Hopper as well as the two Joeys. I guess the question is if paired with the replacement Hopper will I have to reprogram them or will settings for other components be retained?
