So my folks are thinking of dropping Dish for a service offered by their local phone company, Illinois Consolidated, called DVS. They promise to offer phone, dsl, and over 200 channels through existing phone lines. I was not aware that standard 4 or 6 wire phone line had this capability. Anyone ever hear of this type of service?

Most likely this is a Video Over IP solution. The maximum allowed number of TVs is capped at three so they are probably providing a DSL pipe and putting some QoS on it to ensure the video and voice quality for the phone and video.

You can find more informated at the consolidated com website

Yep, similar services are being offered in Canada

Some telcos in Canada offer this now. Do a google search on Sasktel MAX and MTSTV.

I believe Sasktel was one of the first in North America to offer TV service over telephone lines.

You can get more info from some Canadian forums located at digitalhomecanada[dot]com
