They are the right age of 16, it just the US media is going by mistake of fan online site that have different birth years. Same thing happen to Freddy Adu from the US men's soccer team a few years back about his real age. The have shown all the old and current chinese documentation to back when they were born if thats not proof enough what is.

The media outlet just want a story to make this all exciting to the viewers. Look at the medal counts the US media always has the US first with the most medals, but the internatinal and olympic count rules go by gold medals only.
 
You're kidding, right? You honestly believe those girls are 16? It's so obvious they are underage, China must think the rest of the world is stupid. And the US media has ALWAYS sorted the medal table by the most medals. I can remember this back to the 1988 Olympics.
