I got a Pansat BR1000 receiver from a yard sale today and I am wondering if anyone knows of a signal I can use to test it, or if anyone can tell me anything about how to operate the receiver. It did not come with a remote. Will this receiver power the lnbf or do I have to slave it from my existing FTA receiver?

I was able to find one, so I guess the receiver works except for some scratchiness in the audio knob.

I would still like any information on the receiver, particularly the rear terminals if anybody knows anything about it.

I think I figured out that rather than being a volume control, the audio knob on the receiver is actually used for tuning in the audio so it's probably ok. I originally thought it was malfunctioning until I figured out that it's a tuning knob.

I have had some luck with the analog receiver by connecting it to the IF out of my FTA receiver and using the FTA receiver to move the dish and change polarizations.

Today I was watching one signal and could receive two different audio channels by changing the audio knob. That's when I figured out that it''s for tuning. I still haven't found any information specific to the BR-1000 but I think I can use genetic information from other older receivers to figure out the functions of the rear connections.

sounds like your audio settings are on a dial. My 1st receiver was like that. usually the 1st audio you hear is 5.8, 2nd at 6.2 and 3rd at 6.8. I would think your receiver is not in stereo if you have that. You would only have one setting at a time. If you are watching a stereo feed then either 5.8 or 6.8 are mono. Stereo frequencies at either 5.8L/6.2R/6.8Mono or 5.8Mono/6.2L/6.8R

Canadian noise frequencies on the few feeds left in analog will be on a different setting. 5.41 being the 1st/left. I forget right channel.

That's pretty cool. Some old school satellite receivers...sweet. Kind of like the vintage amateur radios that a lot of hams collect and restore. And they still work and use the same standards that today's radios use! You're still watching content just like you would then...maybe not in stereo, but it's still fun, right?

I really like the tuning dial because I like to twist and tweak. I wish car radios still had them, especially for the AM band.

I would recommend getting something like the BR-1000 to anyone who already has FTA but doesn't have analog capability. It has no remote, no menus, and no programming and that suits me just fine. I only paid 50 cents for it. I wish I had a C band setup to explore some of that with it, but it has added another dimension to satellite reception for me and I am having fun with it.

i know a guy here in NJ that has a garage full of old Pansat analog sat recvrs collecting dust,, if anyone here wants me to ask him for a specific unit just PM me...i myself wanted to take advantage and play with the older units, but neither had the setup or the knowledge, he has been out of the biz for yrs( he was on the commercial end)
