I found a lot of posts about it around the internet, and a lot of suggestions that don't work.. has anyone had the problem of their Fire streaming device losing audio sync and been able to fix it? It's bad on YouTube and Pluto, comes and goes on Prime, never happens to Netflix. Amazon is silent on the issue even though it goes back a few years. I've tried every combination of audio/video settings on the Fire itself, nada. Tried changing settings on the receiver, nada. Played around with WiFi settings on the router, nada. I'm about to go back to Roku.

I have not had this problem on any of my Firesticks. Can you tell us more about your setup? Are you using an AVR or soundbar? HDMI-ARC?

I use a Firestick with a Bose soundbar on a Sharp TV. The soundbar has an optical connection to the TV. Never have a problem with audio sync. Mostly viewing DirecTv and Prime, but sometimes Netflix. My two Toshiba FireTV sets never have a audio sync problem either.

A quick Internet search tells me there are just as many people complaining about Roku audio sync issues. Seems like it just goes with the territory.

Did you clear the cache on the installed apps? I had an audio sync problem with Philo, and when I Googled about it I found a link that said clearing the app cache solves it. I followed the instructions and it worked great for me.

Unfortunately I don't have the link to the page that explains how to do it, but this one is similar:

Be sure to reboot your fire tv stick after clearing the cache.

This seems to have worked on YouTube, fingers crossed it stays. It's a pretty new Fire stick. Pluto was in sync today too and I didn't do anything to it.

Fire stick plugged into AVR to surround sound, HDMI to tv.
I was going to ask if your AVR has any audio delay setting, but then I re-read your original post. Since you have it on some apps and not others, the only thing I can think to ask is whether you have tried doing a factory reset?

I have not had this issue. Try to re-start the fire stick. Do you have a solid signal (Wifi) and how fast is your internet?

I use Kodi on the firestick to access local files. I have to add 300ms to sync up. 4k version
No issues with other apps.

I've had this issue. Prime video sometimes burps and the video goes out of sync.
As for Kodi. I currently have my sound setting to +0.3 to sync up the voice. It's saved for all Kodi.
Have you tried simply plugging your Fire device directly into a TV HDMI port and check if it persists?
I've see different glitches when running devices through an AV HDMI out to the TV.

No because it is almost new, didn't think a reset would be necessary. The problem didn't show up until about month after I bought it.

When I got my first ever Firestick to use with Dish Anywhere, it didn't work right until I did a factory reset. Might be worth a try, but obviously no guarantees.

FWIW: I switched to using my Rokus last night, and I can say I really prefer the experience. Everything is just a bit snappier, even with the regular old Streaming Stick. Apps load faster, and it is a less cluttered UI which requires fewer clicks. The only thing that was worse was Prime Video didn't look as good, but everything else looked fine.

I've had 3 Roku, there are things I like about both. Roku has a superior interface. I like the Fire voice search and Alexa. I bought a Roku stick and a Fire stick of the same generation and the Roku got slower and slower with every update but the Fire stick is still the same speed. The Roku died so I bought a 4k Fire stick to replace it. Prime definitely looks better on the Fire, Netflix I don't think it matters.

After a month and a half of Roku use, we have switched back to Firesticks for a few reasons.

1. The Roku remotes had some issues correctly and consistently controlling the volume on a Samsung TV and the power on two Sony TVs. This required periodic reprogramming of the remotes.
2. The headphone connection through the remote on my Roku Ultra had lots of drop-outs which was annoying, especially in comparison to how well the Bluetooth connection works from the Firestick.
3. I noticed that there were around a dozen Roku Wi-Fi networks in my house. My wife was having some regular connectivity issues with her work laptop which seem to have gone mostly away since I powered down the Rokus and removed the batteries from the remotes, and the noise floor for wireless frequencies has gone down considerably.
4. It was pointed out to me that the Firestick is much more stable when using the ethernet adapter if you use a higher powered power adapter. After upgrading to 1.8A adapters, I haven't had any issues with losing network connectivity, and the performance seems a bit better.

Here and Now
The first thing I thought when I saw the thread subject line was clear the app cache. Glad it appears to be sorted.

I had an interesting thing happen this week in the world of FireTV vs. Roku re: audio sync. The second-gen FireTV stick I was using in my bedroom died last week after ~14 months of very light use (I mean a few hours per month tops, and with plenty of air circ.). I had started using it more because my 2016 Roku Ultra had some serious (and notorious) audio sync issues when using the optical audio out, especially on Prime. (My old AVR only has optical inputs, and I bought an HDMI to optical adapter for the FireTV stick.)

Last Saturday night I ended up stuck in my bedroom for TV viewing and started watching Bosch on my Ultra, forgetting the audio sync issue initially. Midway through the second episode I realized, no audio sync issue. Maybe an update in the past year fixed it **fingers crossed**. I'd rather not have to buy a new streaming device right now for a TV I rarely use, but definitely need at times.

Well, Disney+ decided to stop working on all 4 of my Firestick 4Ks. It works on phones and in browsers, but not on the Firestick. After over an hour on a chat with Disney+ support troubleshooting the issue, it still does not work. According to the Amazon support forums, this is a common problem. Anyone here run into this, and, if so, find a solution?
