I purchased a 501 DVR in 2004 from Sears. This was prior to the DVR fee they now charge. I was supposed to have free DVR service for the life of the product but they claim this was never the case. Does anybody remember the specifics of the DVR service way back then?

Which is not to say that the 501, once activated, won't cost you! Your programming fees will be whatever they are depending upon the package. And if there is more than one receiver on your account, then the 501 will cost you an additional receiver fee.

The 501 is the only receiver I have and it has been activated since it was purchased. I recently downgraded from 2 receivers. I know customer service isn't what it should be but how do you explain to the rep. that it shouldn't have a service fee? I guess I could keep calling until I get someone that knows what they are doing. Thanks for the input on this topic!!

also when u call got to tech help option usaly u get a american and someone knows what there doing.
