Agreed, most people shopping for TV's, do so on price. This is why the prices have dropped so much recently.

I'd love a OLED Set but I really have a hard time spending so much when there are other options (LCD's) with technology which can get me within a very close proximity to a TRULY OUTSTANDING OLED picture for 400 to 800 dollars or more of a discount. There is also the Dynamic range issues of OLED, and the tendency of OLED pixels to degrade over time like Plasma.

There only a handful of OLED Competitors, if you land a bargain basement OLED (Hisense) set, there are LCD's that will beat them on Picture, Features, Color AND PRICE.

If OLED is to be the default technology of the future, like LCD defeated Plasma, OLED needs to come down in price if it is to become the Dominant display technology for large screens.

John
If your buying an OLED, your Not buying a Hisense, unless you have No clue about what your buying ...

TV wise, OLED is still new ... it took time for the LCD and Plasma to shake out as well ....

I guess what I'm saying is, give it time.

I've seen Sony OLED in the $1800-2400 range of late ...
Yes, they started out MUCH MUCH higher.

i have a friend on DTV that has a TCL tv ( complete crap ) and DTV looks amazing on it and the 4k is jaw dropping!!!1. it's two years old. so who knows what the life span on the set will be... i have a sony OLED and the HD when i had DTV looked amazing almost as good as there 4k and there 4k looked jaw dropping:)

There's nothing wrong with a TCL TV. Their Series 6 4K models were rated higher than many competitors. The only TV I've ever had to repair was my $2500 Samsung 4K. The main board when out on it and had to be replaced. I have a 65" TCL 4K that looks beautiful after calibration and hasn't had a bit of trouble. A friend has a 75" Sony 4K that he paid three times as much for and it looks awful - cannot get the picture dialed in and everything looks washed out. Point is, just because it's inexpensive doesn't mean it's crap or won't last.

I have a Hisense OLED TV that I would put up against my Samsung QLED (which was way more expensive) any day of the week and twice on Sunday. So I agree with you. Inexpensive doesn't mean it's crap...

I LOVE my Series 6 TCL 4K TV. Probably the best TV I have ever owned.

TCL makes a very good set with the 6 series. I seriously considered it when I replaced the living room set a few weeks ago, but decided to go in a different direction. Still, excellent set, when you add in the value, its hard to beat.

As to Hisense, we rented a condo with one, and I had quite honestly never heard of them. Flipped it on, did some minor adjustments to the picture settings, and was quite impressed with the results. I think it was one of their upper level sets.

I have a TCL 65R613. Excellent picture and far cheaper than most brands.
