Getting error 005

I have now gotten error 005 three times on my 722 running L616. This is the Smart Card Not Authorized error. It is always first thing in the morning. I have called Dish tech support twice, and both times they have had me reset the DVR which clears the error. I do not have the new smart cards yet.

That is fine and all, but nothing records while that error is on the screen, so I keep losing the Today show which really upsets my wife.

I am going to switch my 722 and 622 this weekend to see if the 622 will behave better. I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions as to what would cause this or how to prevent it in the future.

Call E* and tell them what issue your having. And how many more times do you have to put up with this. Tell them it unacceptable and you want it replaced. If it not performing as it should well then they are not providing you the service your paying for.
 
I got the same error last night on my 222k that was installed last Saturday as a replacement for my 222. I called tech support and they went through a check switch with me to get it working.
 
It happened to me the morning after the L616 update, except I lost 3 of the PI channels, INSP, ANGEL 1, and the Chinese channel. I occasionally watch the religious ones, no biggie, but I spent 40 minutes with online tech, and never got it fixed. The tech said that he was at a loss because the channels show up in my "all sub" list, but his screen said that the channels were not available for hd absolute subs. Maybe it will eventually fix itself?
 
Well, perhaps it will fix itself when I have to switch to Turbo to get new HD in February. Or perhaps it will fix itself when I get my new smart cards.
