Greek Channel "Alpha Sat" leaving DirecTV December 28, 2010....

Just received a letter in the mail from DirecTV announcing that effective December 28, 2010, Greek channel "Alpha Sat" (channel 2163) will no longer be available on DirecTV.

As a result, the price of "GreekDirect" will be reduced to $14.99/mo, and the price of "GreekDirectII" to $29.99/mo.

What a shame this channel is leaving! Does anyone know if DirecTV plans on replacing it with another Greek channel? There has been a strong rumor that Greek channel "ERT World" (currently Dish Network only) has been shopping around....I hope this does not mean the eventual demise of the Greek-language offering in general!

Do you know anything about Greek channels "Mega Cosmos" and "Alter Globe" as well? They are currently on DirecTV, but it seems DirecTV has pulled the Greek package from their site all together. These two channels were previously on Dish Network as well.

dish shows it on the right DISH Network - International - 1.800.823.4929

but i dont see those other channels . you could get dish just for greek if you want
