Help with dish working through new tv

Ok I'm a complete n00b at this sort of thing. I bought a 51" Sony Widescreen HDTV and want to hook up my dish to it. The guy told me to buy a S video cable, so I did. I have it plugged up and its not working. I don't know the names to everything and was hoping someone could help me out. THanks!!!

Did you set your tv to the svideo input?

You will have to hoko up the audio left and right from the receiver to the TV, also..S-Video only is video..not sound
