I got this installed Nov 13 by a local dealer. I hope whatever they send me next lasts longer than a couple weeks.
Is that one of the first Hopper 3 models? Dish says the free replacement they're sending me is a newer model.
We'll see how it goes in 1 to 5 business days.

If they fail they usually fail within the first two weeks.

That is actually kind of normal for electronics. With that said the number that fail within that time is small.

I still have my original Hopper 3 which I had for at least a year before they were released to the general public. I have been very happy with it.

Good luck on the replacement but I think you will be fine. :)

anything made today is ready to hit the landfills as soon as it leaves the factories. it's not like back in the 50's where stuff was built to last and if something broke it could be fixed easily and cheap

What exactly is the issue? Most likely just a bad receiver to begin with, it happens. But it could also be an electrical issue. Hoppers are very se situve to electrical issues compared to vip receivers. I've seen plenty of people with a 722 never have an issue in 10 years then get a hopper and have nothing but issues. After multiple replacement and 4 other techs, I'd get there and tell them they have electrical issues and then they'll deny it because the 722 never had a problem. But I'll have them run an extension cord from another room/circuit and the issue goes away. Most of the time it's a grounding issue, which can be tested by temporarily using a 3 prong to 2 prong adapter.

Do you have it on a surge protector 🤔 we have ours on a panamax surge protector no issues

Bathtub Curve. Google it & the visual is clear. That's why you should always "burn in" new electronics (and anything that has moving parts) to beat the manufacturer's warrantee, or resellers' short return window. Seems these days it's the policy for most companies to let the customer to do the burn-in (and beta testing of software uprades):(

I've had mine for about 10 years and it it just keeps on ticking…
When I did upgrade from the Equipment years ago, it wasn't the Hopper 3, but the Hopper. Nothing but issues with the Hopper. It would just shut off. A few months later, after countless times on the phone with Tech Support, Dish finally said that I needed a Tech Visit. The Tech who hooked up the Hopper, was the same who talked me into upgrading to the Hopper 3, and I haven't regretted it.
