House vote dishes out blow to EchoStar

House of Representatives passed key legislation that could cost the satellite-television provider 100 million or more. The legislation would make EchoStar move all local channels in each market to one satellite dish within a year. The House bill also excludes an EchoStar-backed provision that would allow satellite companies to provide certain digital signals to consumers who can't receive them from their local stations.
