So I was studying how my Dish was installed, and noticed on DirecTV's install videos on YouTube, that they use a power inserter to power the LNB's on their dishes. I looked outside, and wondered... does Dish use a power inserter to power their LNB's or are they powered by the receiver? They must receive electricity somehow... right?

The only D* LNB that requires a power inserter is the SWM setup. None of the other setups require external power. They are powered by the receiver

On Dish the DPP44+ LNB requires a power inserter and also the older switches (SW64) do too. But otherwise the receiver powers them
