Have Directv with 3 cables coming from the dish. I have a HD DVR, HD and a standard receiver in the house. Is it possible to add 2 more standard receivers without running another cable from the dish? Can I just add a splitter?
I'm going to assume that since he has three cables coming from the dish and he has HD receivers that it is a legacy LNB Slimline dish.
Not sure how he's using 4 tuners with three lines.
Anyway, you need to add a fourth line to the dish and connect them to a Zinwell WB68 multiswitch.
Then connect the outputs to your receivers.
Then you should have 4 lines coming from the dish to the ground block, maybe there is an open spot on the LNB ?
However that doesn't do anything for the fact you have more recvrs than cables.
With the Slimline dishes, you normally have 4 lines from the LNB ....
If your using a Slimline SWM, you'll only have 1 line from the LNB and that will go to a Power Inserter (PI), then to the splitter in your case and then to the recvrs.
OK, I had one HD receiver and two standards. The installer came to install a HD DVR. He removed the one standard and replaced it with the HD DVR. He was going to add another cable from the dish, but decided to just add a muti switch. He said that he had to reconfigure the receivers. My question is, can I add two more standard receivers or one HD and a standard?

A standard recvr requires 1 line as does a HD recvr.
If you have HD DVR, you need 2 (unless it's a SWM) to make the DVR work correctly.
I'm having trouble figuring out what you have currently and what your wanting to add.
If you have a HD recvr on your account theres no reason to add any Standard recvrs, as your already paying for the HD Fee and the HD Recvrs will work fine on a SD TV.
Yes, but if he did, it would show in the Dish set up section of the menus.
He would also have a PI sitting somewhere plugged in, you'd think he would be told about it.
