I got a new Samsung 32 inch smart Tv today I have a Verizon cable box and directv gemini box it was set up for the Verizon cable box and directv gemini remote to shut off both boxes at the same time how do I set it up to have both boxes to shut off separately ?

My apologies, I misread your post. The only way I know of is to set up the connections by HDMI and enable the CEC setting on the television.
