This sucks......1st weekend of college football games and the Quali decides to die on me. :(

Worked fine yesterday (watched the syndicated stuff on 99W which is 4:2:2) and now tonight I turn it on to see a gobbly gook screen. Cant even see it.

Tried yellow/white/red cables and get gobbly gook
try component and get a black and white screen with faded stuff
DVI works fine

Tried on other TV and same thing...on component only screen that will show is 480...if I try 720p or 1080 I get a black screen...NOTHING!

Did master resets and still same thing. I dont want just DVI to work because I do record some 4:2:2 feeds to a hard drive/dvd recorder. Also since its DVI only I need to use the audio cables and my HDTV only has one HDMI option with audio (the other is HDMI only) and my Shaw Direct receiver is using that port (the HDMI with audio cables).

The other issue is its out of warranty....bought in April 08 according to the slip I found and it has a 1yr warranty. Bought it from Rick's Satellite

Anybody else with a Q run into this?

Below are main screen shots
1st is red/yellow/white
2nd is DVI
3rd is component

its not bad cables as the component cables work fine on the DVD recorder/hard drive

Its just odd it worked fine last night and now it doesnt work. Nothing has changed in the last day (boy theres a rarity for me...nothing on the FTA system changed in a day) :)

Oh wow that sucks big time. And just a few days ago u sold the spare one you had.

Pic 1 looks whacked, possible the Q is set to RGB?
The 3rd Pic looks like a cable is not in the correct port.

Give Mech Tech a call / email:

Is the DVD connected to the same TV?

I'll have to hook it back up to HDMI and see

it was the right cable. Yellow/white/red. Tried it twice

Is the DVD connected to the same TV?

yes. I have the HDD/DVD recorder hooked to component 2 and it worked just fine. Had recorded a game and it plays fune. Unhooked those and hooked it to the Q and got pic 1

As for the red/white/yellow I hooked up my Pansat 1500 and that shows fine too

I was thinking the same thing Lak was thinking. It has to be the setting! I believe if you had a power failure it can off set your Quali settings. Every time I unplugged my receiver, I had to reset my settings for the video.
It may be best to call Rick and see what he can suggest.
Good luck, Iceberg! :up

Since HDMI looks OK, I guess it isn't a resolution or PAL/NTSC setting? Sure looks like a cable problem so I wonder if you can check the connector on the Quali board if the cable is OK? Perhaps the connector is getting loose?

I just hooked it up to HDMI to get settings. I did master reset and got the video setting back to 1080 which shows in pic 2. Pic 3 shows the HDMI option playing fine

4th pic is what happens when you hit menu when going through the yellow/white/red cables.

both the component and composite cables though?
Seems odd they'd both go at the same time

Rick hasnt ever seen that happen (I included the photos with the e-mail)

I have never seen this problem before and we have gone through many issues over the years with the Q's as they are now starting to have some age on them now and some receivers are even having signal strength problems

Through your process of elimination, it sounds as though it has to be something inside the receiver. Possibly the power supply not supplying enough voltage in some areas that are effecting the Component and Composite outputs, but sounds more like some sort of failure on the mother board. The only reason I suggest the possibility of the power supply caps, is that we have had so many problems with undersized caps on the power supply circuit board. But that usually leads to the receiver not booting up.

so I guess I'll use it on HDMI for now

dammit

no sound on it
Hooked it up to HDMI1 on my TV which has options for audio if its a DVI-HDMI. Hooked it up and get video but no audio :(

Hooked the Shaw Direct box back up and that works fine

well I have sound through the dolby output

so the HDMI and dolby output ports work...the rest are shot

so I guess I have a workaround then

DVI to HDMI for video
dolby digital to sonic voom for audio
