Interesting to me anyway. Most of you guys probably already know this. When I record off my sat feed I'm using about 1500mb for an hour long show. The same show recorded OTA is using between 5500mb and 7300mb. I can see no difference in PQ.
 
OTA is only compressed in MPEG2 and therefore eats up significantly more space than an MPEG4 compressed satellite signal.
 
You can't draw any conclusions from that because of what Scott Agrella pointed out, different codecs. That said, much of the time many of us can see little difference between OTA and SAT locals. But sometimes I do see some blocking or smearing of faces if I look closely, and closer to the TV than I would normally be, but not always.
