At CES I saw another digital recorder/home video entertainment solution vendor that had an interesting twist.
They don't do "season pass/name based" recording ala Tivo, but they have a smart timer confict resolution. When the timer sees a conflict, it searches the EPG for another occurence of either program and gives you the option of rescheduling one to eliminate the confiict. It uses both the name and event description.
Seemed to be a pretty handy feature. Not sure how useable it would be with all first run shows, but many shows do repeat at alternate times. I know I would like to see this as a feature on the E* PVR's. Sure a "season pass" type would be great, but this I could see being useful.
