directv does this too
why are there hardly any channels under 100? there are a few hd channels in the 70's on D* and a couple shopping channels in D* and E* but thats it, why is there not many under 100?

locals are carried between 2-69

70-100 is reserved for other things...those shopping channels are remaps

And after the transition, we'll only have 2-51 broadcast channels. Or are they disconnecting channel number from actual frequencies?

the channels just remap (on dish at least) from the 8000's. They remap to what they are on their OTA channel...unless there is duplicates in a market

OK, what other things might these be?
I already posted above. On Dish a few of the knockoff shopping channels have remaps into the 80's. I know right now there are 3 holiday music only channels in the 70's (remaps) and there was that one political channel infomercial on there too
