Does anyone else feel like a 722/622 with a sling box would be better that a 922?

The 922 is missing tv2 functions, external HD compatibility, and picture in picture.

The user interface is a lot more polished on the 722 than the 922. While the interface looks prettier on the 922, I believe the 722 interface is more user friendly. For example when selecting a recorded show there is no “resume” function only “start over.” Also when you are done watching a recording the default option is delete
.
While the 922 has eye candy appeal, I haven’t found anything that my 622 with a sling box can’t do as well if not better.

I would suggest waiting for the 922 to catch up with the 722 before upgrading. What do you guys think?

Just to clarify, the 922 does have PIP.

But I assume only when not slinging (since that takes up TV2).

That's an interesting question. Would the PIP be whatever is on TV1 and whatever is slinging? I don't know. We will have to wait until someone with a 922 can experiment. However, it does have PIP in single mode.

Big mistake not having a TV2 option. I would pick one up but need to connect to 2 TV's.

And how come the tag under my name does not list me as a pub member / supporter?

EDIT: It's because I let my subscription expire. Fixed that! :)

The 922 is the best receiver right now. Obviously it depends on what your needs are. To some people a 211 is the best receiver. As for the interface, the 922's is by far the best I've ever seen. I have a 622 and a 922. The DVR does have a resume feature, it does not say resume but if you just hit the play button it will resume where you left off. So far everything it does exceeds any other receiver they have other than not being a dual tuner.

I sure hope E* gives us the *option* to sling in single mode. I disabled shared mode a couple of years ago, and use my 622 in single mode only. I rely heavily on split screen PIP, and swapping tuners. With the 922, I'd want/need to be able to view PIP and swap tuners on the slinged-to TV, just like I do on my TV with my 622 connected via HDMI. Losing PIP and/or tuner swapping would be a deal-breaker for me for the 922. I don't know if E* even knows that folks use their DVRs the way I do. I'm also currently using a Sony Bravia Wireless Link (DMX-WL1) to send my 622's signal to my master bedroom. Was hoping to use the 922 and Sling Receiver 300 to send signal to my den.

I agree...I think the TV two option or lack of one is a deal breaker for me. If it werent for the fact that they just hiked the 2nd reciever fee up, then I would say 922 would be great, I can afford the $4 extra for the DVR features (kinda sling fee). But since I would have to get another reciever...the would be another charge...and to me that is just milking a already burdened socity. I will stick with my 722 and maybe look into a slingbox pro.
