I dropped WildBlue internet service as soon as my contract expired. And now that Dish has mirrored the Austin HD Locals on 129 I no longer "need" the Dish 500 wing pointed at 61.5 either. So, since the ONLY NEW HD channel I'd really like to get is PBS HD, I was wondering.....

Is any of the spare Dish/WildBlue hardware (e.g. Dish 500, Dish 1000 & LNB or WildBlue dish) useful for FTA? For example, could I hookup a FTA receiver to the Dish 500 and simply aim it at the right sat for the FTA PBS HD feed? Or could I at least salvage the physical dish/mount etc. by adding a FTA LNB, etc?

Thanks in Advance - Talon Dancer

BTW The WildBlue dish makes a very high tech bird bath. It has so many adjustments to get it perfectly aligned. Not to mention, that it is far more useful in this configuration due to reduced latency:)
